I'd rather go for Tavares on a 1 year deal although I wouldn't be surprised if he goes real cheap to stay in Toronto

The Toronto proximity might be enough for him

People love the palm trees joke, but was the stat about Zucker as our best ufa in 35 years or whatever not clicking? It's a legitimate uphill battle that goes beyond kevyn and Terry
The decision to go home to Toronto was not his, he's never leaving for that exact same reason (even going 90 miles down the QEW is out of the question).

Barring a major front office restructure, nobody is going to sign a big contract here. When it comes to UFAs, GMs are salesman. They have to sell a player on what their role would be, the city, and plan for success, etc.

I'd be all for swinging big on a UFA, especially since we don't have to worry about RFAs as much since they've both been meh. But...I just don't see us as a very attractive destination until the front office gets sorted.
We all understand that no one is coming here, that Adams sucks, that he is not capable of trading for a player like EP but it doesnt mean we cant talk about it or give our opinions on what we would like to see happen.

Should we all just sit here and post about how Adams sucks? Day in and day out? And how no one wants to come here? Or can we post about hypotheticals?

Do we have to put disclaimers in every post we make that we all understand its probably not going to happen? We all get that. Everyone here posting gets that.

I thought it goes without saying that we know this team and the GM sucks.

FWIW Biron did mention the Cozens+ for Pete idea this morning on Sabres Live.
If I am Adams(Yes we know he sucks and it wont happen), if I am Adams I am doing everything I can to offer up Cozens/prospects/picks for EP and not another main core piece.

With Greenway out long term, he isn't getting traded in a deal for a guy like Pettersson.

And I be stunned if Adams parted with Cozens and Byrum and Helenius and a 1st.
That would be Vancouver's asking price. I don't think Adams would pay that either, would be somewhere in between those two packages.

Back on the Miller EP thing, I think the most telling part here for me is that Miller is the one who took a leave of absence. We can say all we want that EP doesn't respond well to criticism or he sulks or whatever but one of these two literally took his ball and went home for a bit and it wasn't EP.
Mental health is a crazy thing. Since we don't know the mental side, this is moot

If Adams wants to keep his job, he is going to need to take some swings to improve this team.
If Adams wants to keep his job, he needs to keep Terry happy.

I don't know that taking big swings are the difference between keeping Terry happy or not.

ps They also mentioned the Rangers are interested in Pete
I'd love to know what Rangers fans want to offer up for Pettersson.

And right around that time, Pettersson scored 15 points in 9 games, a coincidence? I don't think so.

Bad trade partner for a guy like Cozens or Byram. Sure, I'm interested in Larkin, Raymond, Seider and Edvinsson, but they're not trading them. Kasper is interesting, but not in a deal like this.

Ziba, Kreider, Vesey, Lindgren, all these brave guys.
If they offer Kreider, Chytil, a top D, and a first, for Pete+ I do not see us getting close to that.

Maybe they get Miller for Kreider or Chytl and Van keep Pete ?

Kreider is of questionable value right now due to age and season. Chytil is also due to constant injuries. What top D are they going to offer? Lindgren not good and his value is minimal probably.

Perhaps, but Miller will cost less than Pete due to the same age and NMC.

If age wasn’t a factor, I would prefer JT Miller over Petersson
He's a good player, but I'm not sure about Miller as a person. So I'd be careful. Wanting to win and shitting on his teammates or intentionally picking conflicts and arguing are not the same thing. I don't need him arguing with Dahlin or Thompson or Tuch if he doesn't like something he sees in practice or in a game or in the locker room. Moreover, I have already seen several comments from Canucks fans that Miller is not suitable for a young team, he needs a locker room with vets and an established core.
