Kreider is a wild card, I'm just worried that his game is really starting to fall off a cliff, or maybe it's the overall atmosphere in the team and the terrible Zibanejad that is affecting him. We could use a player like Kreider type, although we really need playmakers too.
He is a rat who goes to the net. Let Benson learn from him. Two years after this is very manageable.

I hope last nights game soured peoples dreams of obtaining the likes of Barzal, Pulock or Dobson.

Not what this team needs.
I think the forwards are good enough to make the playoffs. Its the defense and the defensive play that is a big issue. If they lock that down the goals will come

What major plus is coming with Schneider?
Well as far as I understand he is a big physical RD, still young. I looked at the Rangers defense, almost everyone there has struggled this season, as has the whole team. I have seen angry comments about Housley, he is their defensive coach.

I disagree, our top 6 gave few points (2n line), we need both things to get to the playoffs, half measures won’t work here and we won’t get to the playoffs. Need more good players and vet, and fewer kids in the line up in attack.

My concern would be who is going to eat Cozens minutes and I am not in love with bringing in a young dman trying to still figure out what he is.

It's not like Cozens is great in those minutes, but our defense really needs to improve, and at least we have a lot of guys up front. Of course, we'll have to find a top 6 C, but Schneider looks interesting name.

They need a 2C and another Greenway type. Greenway is exactly what we need and I have stoked we got him but he always gets hurt. Genuinely believe, if he took an approach on elite conditioning, he might reduce some of these muscle injuries and increase his foot speed a bit.

Greenway Thompson Tuch
Cozens Xxxx Quinn
Benson Kulich Krebs
Malenstyn McLeod Xxxx

Lafferty/NAK

This would be nice but it leaves some talent to be desired if there is a top 6 injury.

I think you dangle Peterka for a top 4 RD or the 2C.

They still need to be supplemented and they tried a bunch of different options at 2c and nothing. I wouldn't do Schneider even if hindsight shows he takes off, I don't think our environment would set him up for success. Imo they need someone 28-30 y/o, who is a stay at home dman, is a zone exit God and can lay a body if tone needs to be set.

I just don't know who fits that criteria. That is why I am interested in Jordan Spence, he is great at defending with his size, great at exiting the zone and can transition with his speed. It seems like a natural partner for Power.

Too much youg players for me.

Weegar

Dahlin - Byram
Weegar - Schneider (Schneider gets the perfect one mentor)

Yes, in that fantasy scenario I trade Power for Pettersson. And we have two top 6 C's around which we can build an attack.

I counted five, Cozens and Krebs are also young and unstable players for me.

They are entering their 5th and 4th seasons, they should know the game by now, unstable for sure.

I'd take Weegar in a heartbeat but I can't fathom Calgary moving him, especially while being in the thick of the playoff race. I'd also rather have Power learn from Weegar. Power is dynamic, he just needs someone to show him how to play in his zone.

I don't know why so much will to move cozens. He at least brings a different element to the game.

If he's gotta go as part of getting Petterson or something that's fine but for a d man it's just robbing from Peter to pay Paul.

I'm not necessarily talking about right now. I doubt Adams is going to start making those kinds of trades right now. I wouldn't be opposed to trading Power for Pettersson. We still have Dahlin and Byram and ideally we add Weegar. Pettersson and Weegar would be my main targets now, at TDL or in the summer.

xxxx - Thompson - Tuch
xxxx - Pettersson - xxxx

Dahlin - Weegar
Byram - xxxx

I think you can build a great team around this, I would add a few more vets to the attack and would mix them with young players, plus find a partner for the same Byram.

Is Byram a 2D?

Well, they seemed to look good with Dahlin, but he can also be in the second pair, the beauty of Weegar is that he also plays LD well, now he mainly plays there, and played in Florida. It's just that in this case he becomes Schneider's mentor. You can shuffle the pairs and try different options.

Let's say it's not Schneider but Kovacevic or Kesselring, for example. Then you can do it like this:

Dahlin - Weegar
Byram - Kovacevic/Kesselring

Im intrigued by a Power for Pettersson swap. It's risky with Pettersson's contract, but if he finds his game again, then we're set at C for the foreseeable future. Thompson slides to a 2C and McLeod can hold down the 3C.

Keep Byram and trade Power. Byram is tougher and more expended. Power is soft and doesn’t have the willingness. Get a top 6 center for Power and try and flip a prospect winger and a pick for a RHD.

Byram has also had concussion issues, if I could get a premium piece for him, I'd make that deal. Power just needs a veteran defensive partner that is stapled to him. A vet, defensive dman who can show him all the subtle bet moves in the d zone and how to sack up in front of the net would go a lonnng way. If they can't get that then a guy like Spence who can get out of his zone, has excellent positioning and can join the rush and get back would be my next best get

PPG+ top 6 C, good playmaker, can play a two-way game, decent in defense. I take it.

Soft as butter, hasn’t been a PPG player in some time now and was a ghost in playoff hockey last year. Also has a very huge contract and potentially a locker room issue.

Soft is not a problem for me, smart, makes his teammates better, great player, and you will only think about the playoffs when you get there, this is not an argument for Buffalo until this team gets there. Last season, you said two seasons, he had a PPG+ if you take the last two seasons, when he also had problems with injurie. Does he have problems with the locker room? I saw that Miller has problems with the locker room, not Pettersson. He is also a friend of Dahlin and I doubt that Pettersson will have problems with the locker room in Buffalo, I still take such a player and I don't care whether you are happy with it or not, period.

Adams needs to target a particular player and not just who’s available in trade rumors. Almost any player is available if the return is right

That's not how it works, especially during the season. Teams may not have the cap or they don't want to trade right now. I doubt Adams can do anything worthwhile right now, at most he could replace Greenway, for example, and even then it's not a fact that this player will be as useful as Greenway. You're also forgetting about NTC/NMC, so clearly not every player is going to come to us.
