That’s absurd. Pettersson has been producing at a 60-something point pace since signing his big contract extension. He hasn’t looked like the 90-100 point player Vancouver thought they were signing for a while now.
It has been a rough 65 games since he signed the extension. But, I doubt they are to the point where they are taking a discount just to dump the contract.

Power for Petterson and then use assets to get Weegar.
I don't see Vancouver wanting an $8M #2 LHD.

:dunno:

Looking at sabres lineup now so much missing. How can they be this bad for so long.
They had third period leads in so any of their losses. They are not as bad as their record suggests. But losing streaks are hard to break. The longer they run, the more pressure the players are under, everyone starts gripping their stick a bit too hard, and they all tend to make more errors.

Nothing against Dahlin, but this is exactly where having a captain who has been there and come through this kind of situation would be much better to have around. They need someone to tell them to loosen up, slow the game down, keep things simple, and have fun. They do that and the wins will come.

Speaking of rough stretches, I keep reading people posting comments about, "if only Adams had kept Mitts", but since the first couple weeks of the season, Casey has been playing some pretty poor hockey. The last two months he has one goal, 10 points, and is a minus 12 in 24 games. That is a 3 goal, 35 point pace with a -41.

He started the season on the 1st unit pp playing with Colorado's big guns and racked up the points, but I've watched several avs games recently and I can honestly say that as bad as Cozens has been, he is playing better than Mitts currently.

Pete is not playing up to a $12 million contract. Offer them OP straight across since they’re taking on the financial risk.
I don't see Vancouver wanting an $8M #2 LHD that also makes more than their captain and #1 LHD.

:dunno:

Plus, if EPete is that bad and not dealing with the pressure of the contract, why should the Sabres trade for him? They have plenty of guys that seem to be in the same situation without any clue to get out of it.

Thank you. This is my point for wanting to trade Power.
I wasn't saying that the Sabres shouldn't be open to moving Power (or Byram). I just don't see why Vancouver would want either guy.

And if Byram wants out of Buffalo so he can be a #1 D, Vancouver is unlikely to be a team that he would want to go to, either.

I don't want to see a single trade proposal from a Sabres fan that has them landing any player with even a one team No Trade List for a while.

Because they are literally looking for a player like that, do you even read the main boards or the Canucks board? They have Hughes - Hronek (who is currently injured) and no one else who can move the puck and eat top 4 minutes. Pettersson and Miller are at odds, one is a complete NMC, the other has no no-trade clause and will join in the summer.

If the Flames are just offering up picks and prospects, let them go after Zegras.
Hockey trade, Calgary seems like a good trade partner, they want to get younger and retool.

Although I think the problem is not this at all, but we don't have such a player and this season is still a wasted, a terribly composed team.

Just because fans think they are looking for a certain kind of guy does not mean the GM is.

I doubt that they want to deal with the locker room politics of adding a young LHD who makes more than their young captain who is their #1 LHD.

All lot of the reasons that Sabres fans are open to moving Power are the same reasons why I doubt Vancouver would be interested in him.

That take from the person that covers the Flames makes it sound like they are not interested in a hockey trade and that Calgary wants to give up picks for a young NHLer who is struggling.

I have no interest in moving Cozens for futures.

When a former Sabres player, especially one who was born in Buffalo while his dad played here, says that, "We are struggling, but our situation is still way better than Buffalo," that tells me that the reputation around the league is that the Sabres are a toxic dumpster fire and players will only come here if they are forced to or if they vastly overpay them as UFAs.

Nobody with options will want to come here until further notice.

Every player in the league without a NTC/NMC is clenching their you-know-whats hoping they don't lose the lottery if the Sabres actually make a trade.

Byram doesn't make that much, they also have players who make more than Hughes and with the cap going up, those defensemen will probably sign big contracts. I doubt the Canucks would pass up adding Power/Byram. Fans are part of the community and that's what sites like this are for, to share people's opinions with each other.

Maybe we'll see. I'm not interested in trading Cozens for futures either. But there are a lot of players I'd be interested in for Buffalo that wouldn't necessarily involve Cozens.

That's probably true and it's not surprising, that's what Pegula has brought to a once good franchise, to the shame of the entire league.

On the flip side organizations looking to trade off problematic players with no protections won’t hesitate to send them off to Buffalo as a final act of spite.

Adams and his anal-lytics department should be mining their data for such players.

You know who we're not talking about enough as a possible trade partner? Florida. They never replaced Montour and there's been rumors of them wanting to move on from Ekblad. They need a high end defenseman that can QB a PP and we have extra of them. I wonder if they feel good enough about Barkov/Bennett as their centers that we can pry Lundell out of there. I'd love it if we could reverse the Mitts deal with Byram+. Too bad Greenway got hurt because he seems like he'd be a fit in Florida too

Last hope, players without NTС/NMС.

RD: Whitecloud, Schneider, Kesselring, Korczak, Miromanov, Spence, Peeke, Blankenburg, Helleson, Andrae, Lamoureux.

C: Pettersson, Rossi, ROR, Norris, Granlund, R. Strome, Beniers, Roy, McTavish, Byfield, Frederic, Pinto, Chytil. Kotkaniemi, Hayton, Greig, Frost, Novak, Dickinson, M. Geekie, Parssinen.

W: Konecny, Tippett, Farabee, Garland, Moore, Kyrou, Terry, Vatrano, Crouse, Zetterlund, Mercer, Maccelli, McBain, N. Foligno, Nyquist, Tolvanen, Donato, Pospisil, L'Heureux.

I think from this list we can add good players and vets to our team, but with RD position it is certainly not easy, but at least we can try to find such a player. Unfortunately Adams did nothing while 5-6 RDs were being traded for this summer and this season.

If I’m them, and I have to choose one or the other, I’m investing in Lundell and letting Bennett walk on July 1.

Laine is ripping it up on the PP and getting caved in at 5-on-5, something like 35% SF% would make him almost 10% worse than anyone on the Sabres. Even Quinn is around 45% SF% and we rip on him endlessly. Good on Patrik that things are going in that he's shooting, but his game for the majority of most tilts is lacking, badly.
You are right, you literally advocate for Bryson for 2-3 years and he is the worst defenseman in the league.

Sorry but this team is trash and to think we don't need a guy scoring 7 goals in 8 games.

Curious what wins games? Goals? Or advanced stats?

Clifton has been terrible lately too by the way.

Laine actually has a very solid stats in Columbus over the last three years, almost a PPG pace. Given our situation, they could have easily taken the flyer instead of just giving up and standing on all fours like Adams did.
