If you are acquiring either guy, it's either going to cost you Thompson and one of Dahlin or Power, or it's going to cost you a bunch of cap space with no salary retained as they work on resetting their cap situation.

As a team that is trying to build on top of what we have on the roster, it would feel like 1 step forward 1 step back (swapping of players), or it's going to feel like 1 step forward 3 steps back (cap space situation).
I disagree, I see it differently.

At some point, someone is going to pay the piper.

The only question is: how much worse can it get? Have we hit rock bottom?

They let Krueger get to 12 games.

It'll be 12 games tonight if they lose.

They aren't firing Ruff. They can't trade a player now until the 28th.

I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas Tree
I just need you out the door
Kevyn the GM no more
Make my wish come truuueeeeee
All I want for Christmas is no more yooooooouu
In the spirit of my favorite holiday movie:

Hey! If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I'd like [Kevyn Adams], right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there [in Clarence] with all the other rich people, and I want him brought right here! With a big ribbon on his head! And I want to look him straight in the eye, and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey shit he is! Hallelujah! Holy shit! Where's the Tylenol?

I guess NSH was not that serious about DC
Well, the word on the board Preda was that Trotz really wanted him. But I'm just not sure they had the assets to do it. It doesn't make sense for us to trade Cozens for Novak+. Probably if we trade Cozens, it's for a guy like Pettersson or Barzal with a plus from us. Or some kind of Mitts-style deal for Byram.

I assume if they just keep losing, he will be fired a little after New Years. If they win some and go on another slide, it will be after the Bills season is done.

Do the Sabres have an open spot with Greenway being injured? If so, why not bring up Rosen and play him on the line with Kulich and Benson? Sit Lafferty and let Krebs center the 4th line.

How many goals against would you like? yes.
Whether you lose 1-0 or 10-1…a loss is a loss. Or do they reward performance points for lower goals against that I am not aware of? I am looking for a spark for this team, not just the status quo as of late.

Maybe we'll finally see something from our assembled fourth line. We need fewer kids in the lineup, not more. We have two full lines of kids now, how many more do you want?

There is no "hockey trade" that the Sabres can offer up for EPete unless it's something like Thompson+Byram for EPete.
I think nope. Friedman's version is quite realistic for me. Thompson is no worse than Pettersson in a vacuum right now and he has a better contract. Also, Pettersson is not a 100-point guy right now and his NMC will start working this summer.

Pete is not playing up to a $12 million contract. Offer them OP straight across since they’re taking on the financial risk.
I love that idea. I would add to that if needed to complete the deal. If we trade OP we still have Byram and Dahlin who can both eat up big minutes.

I want to split them up into different pairs and add two top 4 RDs with a more defensive bent. Well that's how I'd like to see our defense.

That’s absurd. Pettersson has been producing at a 60-something point pace since signing his big contract extension. He hasn’t looked like the 90-100 point player Vancouver thought they were signing for a while now.

Will fix everything
The idea of Petterson interests me. The issue is, even though he doesn't have a NTC, he you have to be sure he's interested in coming here. His full NMC kicks in next year, and if we grab him and he doesn't want to be here, he can just not report next year and say "I want to go to the Rangers, f*** you"

But this kind of deal without overhauling the rest of the organization would be pretty meaningless.

We are a broke organizationally, top down. You have to fix that first before working on the roster.

I think C has to remain the focus if we're moving players or picks.

While I'd rather not watch Joker, the reality is Power had 2 very good years playing with him.
