Yep. Like, tossing a pick out for Fabbro means one of Bryson or Gilbert hit the waiver wire. And we're sitting here going "so?" They think their guys are better than they are, clearly. Drives me nuts.

Edit - and it's cheaper to not bring in salary. Cheap, cheap, cheap.
The point when Nashville was dying for a PP threat and Olofsson had 28 goals in limited play was the right time to make that move. But Olofsson walked for nothing and Fabbri is doing well in Columbus. Dumb to just sit on your hands and watch value go right out the door.

He's a walking corpse, he said he was looking for a deal, before that all the insiders said Adams was the most active in the market. Now he sits silently and does nothing when his team is in complete shit.
Every deal has leverage, he was a sitting duck primed to be taken advantage of. Terry saying the solution is inside the room is a calculated risk that it might take a bit of heat off the fleecing crew. If he responds back immediately, it will look like a farce, hence I imagine over the holiday break he picks up calls and starts negotiating, hopefully getting a better deal. Obviously imo

I can't. Why wouldn't you come back with an equal offer on one of his players?

I also don't understand fan mentality like we lost for 15 years straight so lets hang up the phone and not even talk.

I guess you prefer Adams to pout in a corner. I prefer a GM to try to improve the team.

So when Adams calls a GM I am sure they are going to bother to even pick up the phone. Oh wait, thats where we are now. Its working.
I wouldn't think the offer would be that horrendous but if it's bad and you know the GM is predatory, then there is no point in wasting each other's time and pissing off the other GM that you may have to work with. It isn't as cut and dry when the other GM knows you need to make a deal.

So does that mean every GM that you feel that way with you never trade with? 5? 10 teams? Just close the door.

Also what is a predatory GM? You either say yes or no to a trade. Its not like you roofies the GM and steal their players. Is Adams so scared and weak he can't even talk to these GMs?

I would assume each GM has a couple of GMs that they would really prefer to never work with or talk to. Considering GM's are often re-treads, it is not wise to send offers that are laughable or try to make predatory trades but I imagine there are some out there that do.

A predatory GM would be defined as a GM that targets other GM's and has a ton of leverage to force a bad trade and uses it often. While on the surface it may look good to have a GM that does that, it really hurts the league wide reputation of that GM and can hurt them in future situations.

Impossible, there just aren't trades to be made this early in the season. Err wait no, I mean we don't want to trade for anyone? That's still the excuse right?
I don't think the excuse was there are no trades to be made, it's just harder to do at this time AND when your team is the Sabres. It also seems to pick up the day before the trade freeze, which is tomorrow.

It’s year 5 of Adams excuses. They are in last place. On an eleven game losing streak. Moves are being made for players that couldn’t block a move if they wanted to. And they are happening AT THIS TIME.

How much longer does he get your benefit of the doubt? Just a ballpark figure will do? Ten more years? Infinity?

The people you think are being pessimistic turned out to actually just be CORRECT three f***ing years ago. Do you want to know what the optimistic people turned out to be?

It doesn't feel good to be right here in this type of situation we find ourselves in but it happens every off season, we question the roster and someone says 'they haven't even played a game yet, stop being a downer'. I wouldn't even have to go back very far to pull up receipts.

Kakko and Carrier trade, silence. Even if Carrier had a bit of a rough season (like the rest of the team), why not take a flyer on a guy like that? But you can keep riding with Bryson, Jokiharju and Sammy in the top 4 and lose.

I remember being mocked for thinking that Cozens, Thompson, Skinner and Tuch probably peaked 22/23 and would be unlikely to repeat that season.
People thought it would be the new norm, not an outlier.

I would try to get Pinto out of Ottawa and add vet top 6 forward on the wing. I think there could be some kind of deal with Ottawa. Pinto was on pace for 54 points last season, this season I see him playing 3C again mostly with marginal players like Cousins and Amadio.

Benson - Thompson - Tuch
vet top 6 w - Pinto - Cozens

Can Cozens play LW or is he only RW?
