What is the Sabres W-L record with Ryan Johnson in the lineup this season?

How many of the last 10 games has Ryan Johnson played in?

View attachment 946107

The Sabres are 0-2-1 with Ryan Johnson in the lineup. I like him and he's not the difference between winning and losing right now.
What about Bryson, Jokiharju and Gilbert? I just don't understand what the problem is with keeping him on the team and playing with him.

Sabres are out of the playoffs for 15 years. Everyone on the team for 15 years isn't the difference between winning and losing.

That doesn't mean you ignore upgrades.

Jacob Bryson has been on this team since Adams took over. Jokiharju has been on this team since Adams took over.

The man with a 5 year plan. This is not a serious GM.

Jokiharju is a 5-6. Bryson is not an NHL defenseman. R.. Johnson has only played 3 games but he is a better option than Bryson and Gilbert.

Why is Bryson in the lineup of R. Johnson?

Johnson's ceiling is a #6-7 and that may be optimistic. I just don't see it with him. Competes hard and all but he's not part of a solution.

Regardless, Any team that's giving anything more than 10 minutes a night to some combo of Joker, Bryson, and Gilbert isn't winning anything. These are fringe and fill ins playing minutes in the bigs without an NHL level partner that can cover their weaknesses.

I'm just tired of watching Bryson and Jokiharju make regular mistakes, it's better to let Johnson play in the third pair.

I feel like Power would have to be part of the deal. I'm also a fan of how Byram has looked and I don't think it would be the end of the world if we moved on from Power.

It would need to be a major deal to move Power. His transition game is excellent. His softness around his own net is the biggest issue, and I'm not sure it is something he's going to learn.

Pettersson is a bona fide 1C. His value is Eichel-esque. Cozens simply doesn't have the trade value we'd hope, so you'd need to make it worth Vancouver's while.

Power's strengths could be allowed to flourish and his weaknesses diminished with the right kind of defensive partner, which everyone but Adams seems to realize. But I agree that willingness to engage in the dirty work probably isnt something that can be taught. I'd still only be willing to trade him in a deal getting a player like Petterson, though. This team has been in need of a shakeup and a re-balancing of the roster.

We need to get two top 4 RDs and a top 6 C anyway. Maybe some other stuff. But getting a guy like EP40 or JT Miller for example would be huge for the team.

There was a point where I kinda felt for these guys, a lot of them playing in positions and roles over their heads, offered contracts they'd be foolish to turn down before they were really ready...

But I think the thing that's souring me on them (besides all the losing) is that they just don't seem to be trying to change their games at all.

If you're slumping or the team is slumping, why not try some uncharacteristic things to see what happens? Especially the guys who already made their money, what do they have to lose? Whatever led to a mistake you made (and they're all making mistakes all the time), do the exact opposite next time. Push yourself, be desperate, hit more, dangle less... if you see a player against the boards with the puck, don't sidle up next to him and kick your feet around a little, go SCREAMING in there with your body or your stick and don't take no for an answer.

The idea that a player is soft in front of the net or weak in 50/50 battles and that it can't be learned is so weird to me. Just try it. Try something ffs. They're talented enough to find something that works but these guys are all the exact same players they were a few years ago, the league just figured them out. They've tried nothing and they're all out of ideas.

Nashville fan not coming in peace, but in curiosity. At what level are you guys wanting to get rid of Dylan Cozens; wanting to run him off on a rail or just saving $? What are you looking for?

A hockey trade. Either he is paired with Byram/Power or other assets for an elite 1C or RHD like Elias Pettersson, or he's swapped 1 for 1 for a similarly aged player who may be struggling on their team (i.e. Mason McTavish).

I don't think Nashville has anything that would make sense for us.

Separately, ROR should be near the top of Adams' list if he were available.

Hello. I don't want to trade him cheap or save money, we have nothing to save (unless the owner). Only a hockey deal, maybe in a package to upgrade the top 6 C and top 4 RD positions. With all due respect, I'm not sure Nashville is a good trade partner. Carrier doesn't seem like a great, ROR right now (well, that's unlikely), given his past history here. I'd be interested in players like Novak or Parssinen, but probably not for Cozens. More like trying to find a potential 2C in one of them.
