Can't figure it really out with the 3 new gapsites I use, they are all somewhat terrible when you compare it with capfriendly

But 32 would be with the with the new cap already calculated in, looks more like 30 to me, but anyway more than I remembered.

However a lot of guys need new contracts, Byram, Zucker, JJ, Quinn, McLeod, Greenway, Joker (or vet top4 D replacement) and several depht guys like backup goalie.

That 30 could be gone fast as some should get nice raises, if they want to keep Byram and he keeps up the good numbers is he getting a contract like Power?
Honestly I didn't count but I think they told me 32 on this board. I think you can't plan your roster for next season exactly and you can't be completely sure who you want to keep and who you don't want to keep but we need to make the playoffs now. Adding a guy like Kreider doesn't rule out a Zucker extension but it doesn't guarantee one either right now. Adams still wanted to add a top 6 F but if Kreider helps us make the playoffs that addition will pay for itself. Look at how Vegas and teams like that manipulate the cap and play around with it, our situation is much simpler. I'm not sure I want to pay Byram 8 million (at the moment) and as it gets closer to the TDL or in the summer I don't know, maybe I will. We have cap space now, we will have a lot of cap space in the summer, you can trade some players and replace them with cheaper ones like regular playoff teams do.

Sabres are 26+ mill under an 88 million dollar cap for next year so that means 33-35 in capspace with the estimated number, that includes the skinner buyout and could be even more if they buyout Samuelsson ( a consideration as he would be only 1/3 if healthy)
I don't see that estimated numbers, the cap is limited to grow not more than 5% in the current CBA.
Guess it was Friedman who came up with the 95 number recently, but that would have the NHL and NHLPA to work that out and that never happened before and not sure why the owners would want to spend more than they have to.

Probably can't keep Zucker if you're bringing in Kreider. He'd be your new middle 6 vet winger. An upgrade for now, but a multi-year commitment and a risk going forward.

Even if Zucker/McLeod/Greenway come cheap, you're losing the roster place for a young player you probably need to have in the lineup.

That's why I prefer Brock Nelson as an option. He brings goal scoring and net front presence, but isn't a commitment beyond this year. Can decide after who to keep and possibly get someone to fill that role for less $. Nelson could also play C for us.

But you don't know what the roster is going to be next season. Maybe Quinn is gone, you have Kulich in the press box. Maybe Adams trades Cozens or you don't re-sign Greenway for $3 million for the fourth line. There are a lot of options out there, if Kreider is the guy you want right now (and Ruff knows for sure if he is or not), then you try to add him to make help for fight for playoffs, 1-2 losses and we're out again, we're in a bad mood again and we don't know if there will be playoffs this season or not. You'll figure out the cap in the offseason.
