Not trying to trade struggling Quinn for other struggling players.
I have wanted nothing to do with Zegras previously. His horrible start to this season doesn't change my opinion in that regard.

Quinn + ____ for Crouse was my counter to the Peterka for Crouse idea. If they keep one of Peterka and Quinn, I hope it's Peterka.

Well Crouse seems to be struggling as well, though he will probably come back and be a 40-45 point guy. We need to figure out why Quinn is struggling and how long it will last, we can't wait forever while the playoffs slip out from under us. While I am a Zegras fan and would be interested in seeing him in Buffalo, even I admit that's definitely not the most proven option at this point. While the Ducks don't seem to have a very good coach, I read their board and it gave me a Krueger vibe.

The production may not be there for Crouse, but that Crouse-Kerfoot-Doan line is playing well for Utah.

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports the Sabres have been active in talking with teams, with Bowen Bryam among the players on their roster drawing attention.

"You know, the Sabres are good, then they're not so good. And it's that inconsistency that's powering Kevyn Adams, the general manager there, to engage in more conversation than the average GM," Dreger said on Thursday's edition of Early Trading. "Now I wouldn't say anything is imminent there, and he doesn't really want to tackle the core of their top young NHL players, but they've got a good pool of prospects."

"Bo Byram’s name as an example, has been out there. There's an experienced defenceman. I can't see him getting traded by the Buffalo Sabres, and that's unless the return is can't miss. But I would say that Adams is among the more interested in listening to what's available on that trade front."

Byram, 23, was acquired last season in a one-for-trade with the Colorado Avalanche for Casey Mittelstadt this past March. He has three goals and 10 points in 16 games this season. Selected fourth overall in 2019, Byram had 11 goals and 29 points in 73 games between the two teams last season. He has 29 goals and 82 points over 182 career NHL games.

We definitely have enough assets to add top 4 RD and top 6 F.
How often does that happen in season by one team, though? Feels like we'd be lucky to get one before the TDL approaches.

Trade rosen, 1 pick , some prospekts etc for something good
Teams have to want Rosen, though. Like how it appears EDM really wanted Savoie. Not sure Rosen has that much pull around the league. Im sure teams are going to try and pry Kulich away first, and may not settle for Rosen.

Well, when you've been at the bottom for 13 years, sometimes you have to act aggressively. But I meant adding Murphy and Granlund, for example, would also count as adding a top 4 RD and a top 6 F. It doesn't have to be a blockbuster.

Kulich could also be available for the right deal, although I wouldn't underestimate Rosen, especially since he's had such a strong start to the season.

Nashville and Pittsburgh may be blowing it up so there's options.
Carrier, but they already waive Fabbro and their right side is not very deep right now. There are not many options in attack, all signed by UFA with NTC/NMC. But I was interested in a player like Novak, but I don't know much about him, he had good stats in the last two seasons and it seems he can play center and on the wing,

“Look, I’ve said it many times, I like our team,” Sabres GM Kevyn Adams said on Tuesday at the GM Meetings. “I continue to go back to process, try to remain process-focused, and there’s a lot of things to like about our process. But it has to all connect and we haven’t been connected. If we score, we get a night where our special teams let us down. Or we have a miscue in our own end. Or sometimes we don’t get that one extra save. That is the hard part.”
----------
“I do think the attention to detail has been there, and Lindy has done a great job with that,” Adams said. “One thing that stands out about this group is that they truly want to be held accountable. They want to get better, they want to learn.”
-------
“We may be young, but we have too much experience now to be considered a young team,” Adams said. “Look through our roster, you’ll see a lot of guys with a few hundred NHL games now, and that can’t be used as an excuse. We need to start to turn that experience into results.”
--------
And so, all of that has left Adams to wrestle with: Is now the right time to shake up the Sabres in an attempt to push them toward the playoffs? Adams has previously made no bones about the fact that it’s “go time” in Buffalo; it is Year 5 of his tenure. His predecessor, Jason Botterill, only lasted three years before owner Terry Pegula made a change.

Sources indicated Adams has been active in recent days and weeks calling around the league, with rival teams suggesting he is looking for a top-six addition at forward. But Adams also knows he has to give to get, and that won’t be an easy decision. It’s a crossroads, trying to strike a balance between process and results, and tinkering with the mix or hoping for continued organic growth that may or may not happen.

“I think, you know, I’ve made lots of calls to understand the market and what’s out there,” Adams said. “This is a difficult time of year to make trades, not every team is ready to do something. But I’m open to different things and I’m not going to stop trying to improve this team.”

Mattias Samuelsson for Connor Murphy seems like a good trade for both teams.

Chicago gets someone younger for their re-build.

Buffalo gets an experience top 4 defenseman to help stabilize the top 4 and bring some consistency.

We just wont tell Chicago that Mattias Samuelsson is made of glass.

I'm just not sure about Samuelsson's value right now, he hasn't been very good this season and plays on the third pair, he's injury prone, this contract could easily turn out to be bad for the buyer.

What if Buffalo retains on Samuelsson? Maybe get it down to $3.5M cap hit. Would he have positive trade value at that point?
