If Tage is out next game

Won't happen, but I'd go:

Peterka - Kulich - Tuch
Benson - Cozens - Quinn
Zucker - McLeod - Greenway
Malenstyn - Krebs or Lafferty - NAK

Well Quinn needs to sit down, then call Rosen too. Cozens either with Tuch and JJ and we'll have a line of kids, or Benson - Cozens - Rosen.

Cressona/Reading, PA
My waiver arcana is dusty. He has to be re-offered on waivers to everyone and Buffalo could if able to claim him assign him to Rochester immediately.
I THINK.....that he is re-offered to everyone right now and that the order of claim is inverse points percentage as of before today's game.

If we claim him and no one else does, THEN we can assign him to Rochester.

I'm honestly lost on what to do with this team. It's just so broke it's mind blowing. We're so far off from being contenders, we're just stuck in nowhere. I'd still try to get some top 6 vets to lessen the pressure on the young and the lesser. Get at least onennew top 4 guy who does something different from the others and get a goalie to share the net with upl. I'd use most of our prospects and picks for that, I'd want finally to have a secured now, insteaf of promises that never come true. We wouldn't be contenders, but close to a lock for the playoffs and that alone would be a gigantic win in my book.

I don't think anyone here would have wanted to trade Quinn in the summer.

Would you now?
Quinn for Paul Cotter

Cotter has 11 points in 18 games.

(Actual trade: Cotter traded from Vegas Golden Knights with round 3 pick in the 2025 draft to New Jersey Devils for Akira Schmid and Alexander Holtz)

I was using IR to call up Kulich.
Well, I actually suggested summer trading for Kotkaniemi, who is now in solid condition, and signing a guy like Noesen (14 points in 18 games).

It all comes down to the offers. If they are only circling to lowball Adams, that isn't a great spot, either.

I don't understand why we still get low-balled so often with unfavorable trade offers for our guys. The other GMs should all be kicking themselves for not beating the offers that landed Eichel, Reinhart, RoR, etc. They should be trying to outbid each other, but instead they all collude to keep the price of the next big fish out of Buffalo depressed. And they'll be kicking themselves again.

I'm struggling to care AGAIN when hearing AGAIN that they maybe kinda didn't prepare like professionals to deal with another pro team. Don't like being boo'd, show the f*** up.
3rd year in a row we've lost to MTL in our first meeting with them of the season. They've been a bottom 5 team each time.

Our players absolutely do not take MTL seriously. How many more times will it bite them in the ass?

Will fix everything
Adams rushing to lock up "his guys" to juicy long term contracts ranks near the top of his missteps as GM.

Samuelsson still defys any logic. You dont give out a 6 year contract before the guy accrues one full NHL season.

The Power one really doesn't make any sense either considering he had zero leverage at the bargaining table with his 10.2 RFA status.

In terms of 'big mistakes', signing a promising young player long term during the peak of their careers isn't up there typically. I think the big issue is making sure the young player is READY for that long term contract and they don't need the motivation of the next contract to keep them going.

But....I think knowing when that is the case is from experience in a front office and seeing where it goes wrong first hand. We as fans have no idea if a guy is ready for a big contract or not.

The Sabres under Adams HAVE avoided the big mistake, which is to sign flashy "name" veterans to big long term contracts with NMCs. That is typically the 'big' mistake teams make.

For Adams, it's just been not knowing what works and what doesn't. The whole 'not blocking the kids' stuff was a mistake, essentially turning your NHL team into a developmental team.

Having a coach who was over encouraging and let them play through their mistakes rather than teaching a strong defensive system for them to build off of. So now we have a bunch of players who haven't played in a professional system before and don't know how to defend and there aren't any veterans who can help them. Ruff comes in now trying to undo 3 years of bad defensive habits that has been reinforced and it's not going well.
