This whole episode sums up the situation well:

Kevyn Adams needs to add a top 6 forward at a time when teams aren't selling top 6 forwards.

They talked about the Vanek to the Islanders trade and the Eichel to Vegas trades as examples.

But, who is available like that is the challenge...
Agreed. Outside of a few really good teams, majority are with in a few points of each other. I don't see many wanting to make any moves at this point. If some teams start to fall back then maybe a trade happens.

Also with the way things have been you don't see much trade action happening during the season

This is Adams' problem and no one else's, he didn't add a top 6 F in the offseason, now we don't have a second line.

Let him call the teams that are going to go after Hagens anyway, let him call a team like Calgary, Flyers,

Will fix everything
Realistically, there are no external options right now unless a we can do a player for player move.
The worst team in the league is 5 points out of a playoff spot. So no selling is happening right now.

Start with what we have:

Figure out how to get the defense to work effectively and within Ruff's system. Benching Samuelsson and Joker seemed to help.

Then, figure out how to get your middle two lines sorted, including players from Rochester.

Top line is fine, bottom line is whatever. It's getting a contribution from that middle six that will push the needle. Can't be a one line team.

We aren't at a crisis mode yet, the parity in the league has worked to our advantage. But....the team needs to find its identity and find it fast.

It seems like a healthy Benson already helped a bit, they had a long extended shift in the sens end yesterday, and noone was expecting Quinn and Cozens to have such a bad start.

Well, yeah, no one really expected it, so some of us talked in the offseason about adding a proven top 6 forward.

For what it's worth, Quinn looked about 80% of the Quinn we know yesterday. He is looking more like himself.
Yeah, I really do think that the solution for what "ails" the top 6 is in-house.

The not in-house solution is a legit top 4 RHD who is defense first and can PK. Yeah, they're coming in Kleber and Strbak.......but they're going to need 2 years. We need a bridge to those guys.

How many games am willing to wait until Cozens and Quinn start scoring points and winning games on a regular basis? I agree about the top 4 RD, but it was needed yesterday, even if Bryson already looks better than Sammy and Jokiharju.
