We have so many forwards prospects that I would offer Joki + prospect, maybe supplemented with some mid pick depending on the prospect.
I see your point, and I'm not totally opposed to that, but after watching the Amerks so far this year, I kind of want to keep that group together and let them take a run at a Calder. That will raise all the forward prospects value and help create a winning culture to bring into the big team over the next couple of years.

Some of our prospects don't even play for Rochester. But I wouldn't mind trading pick, that would also work for me.

Not sure any of the non-Rochester prospects have mid to late 1st round value, which is what it will likely take.
Well, Jokiharju probably has some value, they might trade him at TDL later, a guy like Poltapov might have value. Overall, I think we definitely have a variety of assets to get someone like Murphy.

I could be wrong, but i don't think Joki has much trade value.

Poltapov has had an eye opening start to the year, but I think he'd have to play at this level (or better) for a year or two more before he'd have that kind of value.

RD, who played in the top 4 for a long time, always has value.

Am I missing something with Murphy? Is he that good we’d trade a 1st for him plus a prospect?

Also, Jokiharju back to Chicago might it work. I’d try to move Jokiharju is a separate deal.
Well I wouldn't pay 1st+ for him, but he seems to have looked good this season. Also he has a reasonable contract and it will be valid next season.

I do think RHDs, especially physical ones, always go for more than they should (see Ristolainen). But I think Joki+a 2nd is more than enough for Murphy.

Here's what I could see: move McLeod or Greenway into the top 6 just to add either speed or power, depending on who you pick. I'd even consider Lafferty, if you're just looking to add some power as well.

It'd be a playoff move when teams expand out skill onto 3 lines. Adding someone like Sissons could make that possible. I don't see that type of move getting Cozens going or fixing the second line. That'd take a different type of move.

To add on I think Cozens creates a log jam for us. He just isn’t working out at center (right now) and we need help in our top 6.

It seems as though we’re starting to sniff around to him being on the wing. Which is fine, but what about Quinn, Benson, Tuch, Pererka? Is he better than those 4 on the wing? Is his ceiling on the wing better than those 4?

Long term (similar to the Byram trade) I don’t understand the plan for roster construction. It’s struggled to be cohesive rather than a bunch of individual parts.

In a perfect world I’d like to upgrade the wing on the first line, pushing Tuch to the second, and get better play from the 2C. If Cozens can be either solution I’m here for it. But if he can’t I don’t get the plan…

But again that all gets log jammed because the franchise keeps trying to rearrange the line up just to get Dylan Cozens going. We keep trying to make Cozens better rather than make the position better.

He can't even make the lineup for an awful Nashville team.
This is not an indicator, they are terrible for a reason. Read their board, there are many questions about Brunette and why he does not play with Fabbro. Maybe it is bias or something else.

I will admit i have a much higher tolerance than most people for paying whatever it takes to make the team better. Always have, and will continue to, at least until the team is good.

Having said that, claiming Fabbro for free is a no brainer. Waive Joki. Instant upgrade. Have to think he'll be claimed by someone else though.

No, I know Weegar is right-handed, but he plays LD all the time, both in Florida and Calgary. I think I read that he is more comfortable playing LD than RD. Same with Dahlin, he is left-handed, but he is more comfortable playing RD.

But I don't know how well he's doing at RD, I'm not sure that would be a problem, although our defense would be damn expensive and Byram would also need a new contract.
Weager solves nothing.
I thought Benson couldn't play in the AHL, or NHL or WHL. And he looks good in the NHL, there's no point in us adding a top 6 F to replace Benson, if that happens it'll be to replace Quinn or Cozens.

He can only go to CHL because he is WJC eligible. Buffalo could let him go and play in that.
There's just no room for Joker right now, Byram - Dahlin are the top pair, Power is playing with Bryson for now, but we've seen Joker with Power before and it didn't work. There are two obvious options to play with Power that might be available, Murphy and Fabbro. Joker could go the other way.
Fabbro on waivers
I’m not sure about Benson’s eligibility in the AHL. That’s a good question. But that’s my point though, I really don’t think Cozens or Quinn are going anywhere. It’s selling low on two prized core pieces that are young and have shown potential. These are the types of players you develop

Yup yup, something needs to be done there
Hes WJC eligible so only CHL
Connor Murphy would round out our D perfectly and is signed through next year. I'd offer Joki and a '26 1st (top 3 protected). Plus maybe a lesser prospect like Rousek or McCarthy.

Not trading McCarthy , a buffalo area native, who would sign with buffalo post college.
I'd probably give it a couple weeks to see if Cozens/Quinn bounce back before making the offer. If the 2nd line continues to be a black hole, I think you probably have to use assets to fix that first.
I dont think it needs fixing via trade now. At the deadline if buffalo is in it they could add depth.

Hes ok. Hes not done stud Dman. Hes not worth 1st+

Why he sucks?
He is equivalent to Joker here.

I expect him to get claimed.

If buffalo were to claim him, who do you unload?
