The 2024-2025 Roster Thread

I still don't get the resistance to tage at center.

He's been more than capable and if we got a "true 1C" I think its crazy to be unhappy with him as a 2C

1. I think he is better suited at Wing. Less responsibility allowing him to get up ice and play his strengths.

2. He is always injured. You slot him at 2C and he us hurt you are pushing up a McCloud or worse yet Krebs.

3. Allows for more depth. If we have Kulich at 2C that allows Tage to slide into 2C if Kulich is ever hurt.

4. He is a turnover machine bringing puck up ice.

5. He is pretty horrible defensively in middle.

You may disagree with me but I feel this team needs a JT Miller more than an Elias Petersson.
I definitely disagree, we definitely don't need hypocritical jerks. The guy yells at everyone, demands effort, but often plays a lazy game himself, conflict is inevitable, imo. He might fit in a team with a vet core like Dallas or Caps, but definitely not Buffalo.

The EP40 knee concern concerns me.
Well, there are doctors, medical records and all that, you can probably check all that. Of course, you're not going to trade him if his knee is falling apart. When we traded Eichel, other teams looked at his medical records or something like that

With respect to EP’s injury/lingering issues, there’s a range of severity, right?

If he’s late-career, dead on his feet Jason Allison, he’s probably not putting up those points that he’s had in games without Miller. If he’s in slow-recovery mode, pick him up, shut him down for the rest of the year, enjoy the high draft pick. See if he picks it up after more rehabbing. If the long-term prognosis is that he’s a skilled, intelligent player without burst, so it goes.

PuckPedia has the new projections up and here is what the Sabres overall situation looks like moving forward.

It's true. But, tendinitis can be very finicky. Probly even more so than a torn ACL. ACL is torn, it's repaired, you rehab. Tendinitis could constantly flare up and effect a career chronically.

I haven't been paying close attention to this...but have there been any reports of different team scouts/management attending our games, same for us viewing others? For example, anyone from Vancounver's staff taken in some of our games, and vice versa? Any in Roch?

Well, it’s hard for me to say, I’m not a doctor and I don’t understand anything about this, but perhaps this doesn’t affect his productivity and two-way play, I’ve already cited stats this season of his play with Miller and without him, there’s a huge difference.

The cap reveal only makes an EP trade more of a must to me. There are going to be even less big names near the market with the cap skyrocketing. And you can’t get them when they are. This is a disaster for Buffalo…but what isn’t? This may be the last actual shot at adding a legit top line player this franchise gets. Ever.

At least while they’re in Buffalo.

Unfortunately, yes, there is no one comparable to EP, especially without trade protection. This could be very important for our best players and next season, and in general for future seasons too. It will show guys like Dahlin, Tage and Tuch that they are starting to have serious intentions to make the playoffs. Although this obviously should only be the first step in improving the team, it is a very important one.
