The 2024-2025 Roster Thread

I know I mentioned that the JJP/Kulich/Tage line has worked very well......and I'm still trying to figure out HOW. 3 shoot-first guys shouldn't work as well as they have been. Granted, Tage's passing occasionally gets overlooked......but I'm still a bit confused as to the why that line is working so well.
I haven't watched in a while, but i was super impressed with Kulich's two-way game at such a young age. Perhaps that's helping stabilize that line assuming his two-way game is still looking solid. I'd be curious about their usage, too.

Happy to read Kulich is still killing it. His ceiling is super high, and I wouldn't want to include him in a trade. I understand we want to get older, but a young player showing he belongs with Kulich's skillset is just too enticing to move on from barring a crazy overpay.

If I had an ounce of optimism, I would wonder if the holdup is possibly getting MP's extension framework worked out so the whole thing happens at once. Maybe there is a piece (Hoglander?) going to Pittsburgh in all of this if they are trying that too. Hoglander seems like one of those scrappy worker types who thrive on Crosby's wing.

I don't know, I'm mostly pessimistic now or perhaps just a sad realist. :biglaugh: Figure we get lead along and nothing happens.
If Adams somehow acquires both EP and MP, then I may start watching games again.

MP-Dahlin
Power/Byram-XXX

Is a solid foundation for the top-4. Still need a RD for the second pairing, but that can be acquired in the offseason, though I have zero faith Adams would do that.

The ask is clearly Byram and Cozens as it’s been repeated by no fewer than 3 or 4 sources. I think framework is set, and Vancouver is just deciding if they want to pull the trigger.

Cozens might not be a center, I think that’s what his comment referred to.

It’s who they want to move…considering the options available.

A person usually wouldn’t need to say the second part because it’s implied, but glad you stepped in to clarify what everyone else already understood.
See below....
Do we have any reason to believe that's the 'if'?
Just speculation on my part. If Power is part of the deal, the center back wouldn't be as valuable.
I haven't read anything like that.

Dreger has said that Adams is willing to part with Cozens and Byram. He has not said that Vancouver asked for them.

EF said something similar.

All the stuff from Vancouver has been talking about their needs at C and D in an EP40 trade. But, there is nothing specific on Cozens or Byram vs other centers and D the Sabres could give up in a deal.

@Doug Prishpreed
That is not what Dreger or Friedg have said as recently as yesterday.

Even Chad D has talked about it more as the basis of the Sabres offer and less of a basis of a deal that Vancouver is on board with.
@Doug Prishpreed

So it's not this universally understood trade offer. Does it make sense? Sure.
if you believe Chad, Buffalo has been exploring a Trade with Pittsburgh, Pettersson for Rosen.
I'd pull the trigger on it and try to re-sign Pettersson.

Rosen for a resigned Pettersson I am doing that in a heart beat.

If Buffalo can get both Petterssons we might actually make the playoffs next year :laugh:

Just noticed that three of their top 4 faceoff takers are at or above ~50% (I'll give Cozens the benefit of the doubt since he is 2 wins off of 50% (379 to 381). So... the faceoffs are important crowd must be please, right?

Right?

Right?

I mean, if your team is bad at even strength, bad shorthanded, and bad with the man advantage, fixing the FO% don't matter.

I've described Adams offseason as fixing micro issues without resolving the macro issues.

Can you imagine if Adams trades for both Elias Petterssons from Vancouver and Marcus Pettersson from Pittsburgh?

It would make the broadcasts fun to listen to. Especially if they make the Pettersson-Pettersson d pairing.

I will continue to stand by faceoffs mean nothing at a macro level. It's individual game situations where it is important and starting with possession isn't a cure-all.

If he can pull out getting both EP and MP in season then I would have cautious optimism that he could and even would get the rhd in the off season. However, I still think it is unlikely we get either EP or MP. I refuse to get my hopes up anymore until something happens.
