I don't know, I have absolutely no problem with trading Cozens. People seem to overrate him because of his hot streak in 22-23, his defensive charts are terrible, Ruff criticizes him and moved him from center and we still don't have a 2C. Seriously, Cozens has too many minuses in his game and not enough pluses.

As someone who watched a lot of the Kings in their almost dynasty era, Dean Lombardi I think is the right guy for the job.

What ended up being his downfall after the cups was that the veterans and established players he traded the young guys and draft picks for, he ended up being too loyal to those guys. But he did that after they had already won it twice and gone to the conference finals three times. I'd like to think he's learned from that and won't be loyal to a fault anymore.

So we have a guy who has won 2 cups and we know has established success in taking a young team that has an abundance of picks, prospects and young guys and turning around a situation. Kings were also considered one of the worst franchises in the history of the NHL before their run.

Sound familiar? Only difference is the Kings owners were as hands off as you can possibly get.
I think it's a good option for POHO. Maybe Rick Dudley or Doug Wilson how options.

It’s unusual for a player to peak that early, but he very well might

If I am trading Cozens it would have to be something like a package for Barzal, Petterson, Boldy thats what I would be looking at and of course we will have to add but thats what I would be asking for if I am Adams. Sure they probably hang up the phone but thats the point. Find a stupid GM or keep Cozens.
(Players are just examples don't get hung up on them)
The best player in the trade has to be coming to Buffalo.
^This … my thoughts exactly

They absolutely should not be moving Cozens now unless its a similar caliber player coming back or part of a package for an upgrade.

And frankly, the next GM should get to decide what to do with him.
What does similar caliber player mean?
What Adams expects he should be?
Its really hard to tell. Also he has well over 300 games so I don't know if his problems just stem from a wrong development path (forcing C, goal scoring) besides the pressure he was put in to be a 2C (huge contract after just one good season).

Adams must be excited that somebody is finally calling him 😆

Or I was thinking Matty Beniers.. he seems like he could use a change of scenery as well. Maybe there could be something there between Sabres and Seattle.
Beniers might not be a bad option maybe Power and Beniers will feed off of each other but I am offering Quinn. Cozens is worth more than Beniers.

I don't hate this idea but I do think it would be more of a swap Cozens for Beniers if it came down to it. Which I think I'd be okay with.

Why would Seattle trade Beniers for Quinn? Beniers is a better center than Cozens, he's younger, he's better than Dylan on defense, he seems like a better playmaker, they have the same points average. How the hell is Cozens worth more than Beniers? I'll easily take Beniers as our 2C over Cozens. I think you/we overvalue our players.

Because thats what I would offer. Why trade Erat for Forsberg. Why offer the better player? I would always overvalue my players instead of ripping myself off. The team that gets the better player always wins the trade. You add to Quinn you don't offer a better player.

I think you overvalue Beniers. At this point he is a 3C

Well I think Ron Francis, although he seems like a questionable GM, would easily say no. Where do you see Forsberg for Erat here? Two players of similar age, I think one is overrated and the other is a good fit for 2C behind Tage. Who will provide reliable two-way game, even if he does not score 70-80 points. So I would do that trade, Seattle maybe not.

I see a team making a stupid trade and GMs do it all the time. Thats the point of the Erat example. Everyone says oh a GM wont make that trade but they do at times. The team needs to start packaging picks and assets to get better players. If I am the Sabres GM I am packaging players and assets for better players.

Adams should have been doing that 2 years ago.

Okay, find that deal, make that deal. Who's gonna do it, Adams? He's been trying for three years and nothing's happening.

Why do you think Matty needs a change of scenery? Matt is playing pretty darn good two-way hockey, being one of their top forwards in usage, and on the PP. He's having a rough years in terms of shooting% but hes cleaned up a lot of other areas and hes still creating opportunities and one of their best playmakers on the team.

I think Berniers and Cozens have similar value, but Berniers is a tick higher. Sabres would have to add something of value to make it work.
