Prospect Info: The 2024-2025 Prospects Thread

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

What happened in Buffalo will be a case study for centuries that no one will ever figure out. What's happening in Chicago is you are asking Bedard to do it by his self.

Toronto tear down rebuild. Matthews, Marner, Nylander all came into the league at the same time. Nylander 1/2 year SHL and AHL, half year AHL/ NHL. Marner back to junior for another year. They also had Kadri, JVR, Reilly on the team. That's 6 top 10 picks.

Bedard you could not have sent back to junior but they were still in the middle of a tear down. The help is probably 2 years away. Bedard needs a center to play with and they will get it in this draft.

Toronto also got Matthews 1st overall as a ~70 point team (which was lowest in the league that season), then added Nylander, Matthews, and Marner at the same time.

The gap between the good and bad teams in the league has significantly changed this decade compared to the last two.

Not trying to be snarky but it says something about the state of our prospect pool that we've been talking about other teams for the last couple pages. 😂 Clearly there's nothing much worth discussing as far as our team's prospects at this point.
The season has ended, and we're waiting for our CHL and college guys to start their playoff rounds. Most of the discussion about our prospects ends up in that prospect's thread. Lekkerimaki is getting some talk after his big game. There will be Willander talk after his tournament run ends and we sign him. Mynio will be a player to watch as the WHL playoffs kick off.

It's just a lull at the moment and a discussion took a few pages to run its course.

Fair enough. I was just being cheeky, not actually complaining about the discussion.

The Canucks don't have a lot of prospects.

Outside of Abbotsford it's
Mynio
Romani
Paterson
Alriksson
Forsell

Frozen four starts in a couple hours.

I will try to watch at 4 games today. 22-23 frozen four is where I had noticed Max Sasson and Cole McWard as players worthy of a shot.

NCAA is picked over much more nowadays and teams are certainly willing to draft plus 1s that have good first NCAA seasons.

Victory put up all the WHL games (with home and away feeds), and it looks like you don't need to make a free account to watch them: Victory+

Just press continue as guest on the login screen

AIDEN CELEBRINI!!!!!!!!!!!! 4-3 bu

That goal ended up holding up as the winner.

Hope Celebrini gets a bit more of an opportunity to shine next season. I feel like he's got more to offer.

And with the Canucks' defense playing as well as it has of late, perfectly happy to see Willander continue his NCAA playoff run.

Minnesota state vs Western Michigan. First 5 minutes started with a lot of physicality. Two fast teams. Not much individual skill but looks like two teams that play strong systems.

Wow! Aiden Celebrini has looked great for BU the last couple of games. Big kid who can clearly skate and join the rush. And his shot is hard, and very accurate. with goals in back-to-back games.

Does Macklin's big brother have a shot at earning a contract from the Canucks?

i thought Korchinski was not doing well in the A.
He's not but he also isn't withering in the Windy city and Dmen take time.

Maybe he doesn't make it but the Black Hawks have plenty of Dmen in their system and Vlasic is already well on his way.

High end guys or top4 guys tend to adapt to AHL pretty quickly.

of course he will. he's our ace for pulling over Macklin in a about 6yrs

jokes aside when he was picked my immediate thought was Jamie and Jordie Benn. The forward became an NHL scoring champ and the other without being drafted and forging through ECHL CHL AHL became a useful NHL defenseman.

I'm actually fully expecting a breakthrough season next year and a useful Canuck down the road...might just be Abby but that's ok too if so for a 7th. Would not surprise me if he went further

Sure but rockford has the same situation as the parent club, not very good veteran forwards and Kevin played in the NHL last year which was probably asmitake so his situation is kind of unique.

I wouldn't be writing him off so quickly.

Yeah, depth d men are suddenly doomed in VCR. How will he get past 1 - Hughes Hronek 2- MP EP2 3 - Mancini - Forbert 4 - Willander. Meyers 5 - Mynio KK. We have 10 legit D men in the system. Yes, Forbert and Myers are 33 & 35, and will age out in 1 - 2 years. And we will see if Hughes re-signs here.

And this isn't even mentioning Juulsen.

After Willander, EP(D), and Lekk all graduate this year, this pool is going to be so dry. Mynio and Patterson will be the top ones to watch. I would move Kudryavtsev for a forward prospect with the logjam up front.

There's no telling if willander will stick with the big club, plus we'll be making 2 picks in the top 50 this year. By default they'll both slot in as top 5 prospects for us.

I hope that some picks are made this year in the draft and forwards are taken with them. Yeah trading away NHL centers for NHL D and never drafting centers wasn't smart.
