Prospect Info: The 2024-2025 Prospects Thread

And he does it again , Anthony Romani has 1 goal and 1 assist , 11 goals and 11 assists now in 15 games , But Barrie is down and it looks like their magic is running out as well

If they lose , they will be down 3 games to none and they are losing 5-4 to Oshawa in the 3rd period

Patterson and Romani have quietly had very solid draft-plus-one seasons in the OHL. If Romani hadn't fractured his collar-bone early in the season, he might have even surpassed last year's point totals. And he's absolutely on fire in the OHL playoffs.

Obviously the pro potential of both these guys is uncertain--but are exactly the kind of players you should be looking for with late round draft picks.

My philosophy with late-round picks is that you try to find a player with one or two plus traits and flaws that your development team has a plan to correct. You also want to look for signs of exceptional character or another personality trait that will make them coachable, driven, or otherwise likely to find ways to be motivated to grow their game. From there, you can only hope they develop. Part of what makes our draft so variable is that the NHL draft is in an awkward age range where you don't get to start working with players as young teens, but you aren't drafting finished or nearly finished players in their 20s.

Final update ,

Anthony Romani scores his 12th goal of the playoffs in his 16th game .

Romani will finish the playoffs with 12 goals and 12 assists in 16 games for 24 points .

The Barrie Colts are about to get swept as they are losing 8-4 to the Oshawa Generals .

This has been so much fan following Romani , disappointed his season is now over , he showed so much promise and his true offensive prowess and ability and really was the glue to this Barrie Colts offense these OHL Playoffs and the Canucks have a potential hidden gem in the system who absolutely deserves an ELC.

Romani and, to a lesser extent, Patterson, have done a good job bringing their offensive potential to the playoffs. They just hit a stacked team and in spite of their contributions, they'll be headed home for the offseason.

Look who is numbers 3. Not bad for a 7th rounder.

So the teams I fear the most this offseason because they have ample more assets, picks and capspace than us have multiple defenders on this list they wouldnt even miss.

Niiice.

(columbus 3, chicago 2, anaheim 2, montreal 2)

All four teams have even more reason that us to shoot for top 6 centers and top line wingers, imo.

Then add Artem Duda's team, in Utah who I also fear.

Hot damn, management made their only real asset worse. Canucks were 25th or something mid way through the year.

Rutherford joking free agents won't want to come here, they have to overpay, yada yada. Well if they draft and develop.

There was a lot of discussion about this in another thread and the general consensus here is that the Canucks are closer to lower end of the middle-of-the-pack rather than bottom three and Bader's opinion and model are worthless.

Reality is since Hughes, the Canucks have barely produced replacement level players. Most of those players have been touted to have great careers as rookies. Let's not pretend that the Canucks are producing a decent prospect every year. They really haven't produced one since 19-20 with Hughes.

Yeah, we have 3 players (Willander, EP2, Lekkerimaki) who are head-and-shoulders better than anything Vegas has but somehow they're in front of us. And there's lots like this. His model is terrible and seems to get worse every year.

I'm not sure what the lack of prospects from the terrible final 3 Benning drafts has to do with Lekkerimaki/EP2/Willander being obvious top-100 (and probably all top-50) prospects right now.

that's just an artifact of how bader weights positions. they have lindbom and moysevich. vancouver have silovs

Well, yeah - if an advantage in terms of fairly insignificant B-level goalie prospects overrides a huge advantage in terms of position player talent the other way, you have a bad model.

Lack of prospects would hurt the rankings.

Prospects taken 2019-2021 are barely affecting these sorts of prospect rankings at this point.

We have 3 prospects who are circa top-50 in the NHL. That should put us somewhere middle-of-the-pack at the very least, by any logical reckoning.
