Prospect Info: The 2024 - 2025 Prospect Thread: Part 2: WE ARE SO F***ING BACK

Okay that's fair I guess but trading for a legit top 6 center prospect is extremely difficult.
I don't know the league nearly well enough to make trade proposals, but, keeping on a very general level, it seems to me that it's also difficult to trade for legit top four D prospects. So perhaps there's a trade to be made there—that's all I was thinking.

there's just not that many prospects that safely project to be top 6 centers. the few that do are either already in the nhl (celebrini, bedard, smith, carlsson, fantilli, cooley) and will cost a mint to acquire or are basically untouchable (dvorsky, catton, ritchie, lindstrom). you can maybe pry loose a guy like danielson or kasper from detroit or beaudoin from utah or maybe danny nelson from the islanders but those guys are not safe bets to be top 6 guys and might be years away in the case of someone like beaudoin

if vancouver are serious about acquiring a top 6 center who is young the most attainable on the market might be shane wright. seattle have beniers and chandler signed long term and have to make room somehow for catton and possible miettinen and molgaard in their top 6. i dunno what the kraken would want in return though. starts with the first and probably includes either elias nils pettersson or sawyer mynio or maybe lekkerimaki (although seattle is stacked with wing prospects so maybe not)

KK and Mynio are also not safe bets to be top four D. I'm not advocating a trade for a "safe bet."

I'm advocating for like-for-like, with a shift of position. Say, a centre drafted the same year as KK was, also a late round pick, who's performing better than expected. Just to shift the balance in the prospect pool. Not very exciting, but I'm not claiming that it is.

Mynio was a third-round pick; and Kudryavtsev a 7th rounder. Given how far, and how fast they've come by their 20th birthday, I think the Canucks would be well-served giving them a couple of years in the AHL to see what potential they might realize.

As for now, the best you could hope for in a trade is that they'd be a 'throw-in' to acquire some sort of rental.

It's hard to uncover decent d-men in the draft. If they to have a couple of strong years in the AHL, at the very least their trade value would be considerably enhanced.

I would gladly do Lekk and a first and probably be willing to add Mynio and even hoglander if necessary to get a top 6 and even then it's gonna have to be the right situation.............a player that a team has soured on a bit..........ie Pierre-Luc Dubois

From the 2022 draft:

(2)Simon Nemec - 32 GP 5G 17A 22P
(6)David Jiricek - 21GP 2G 4A 6P
(7)Kevin Korchinski - 36 GP 2G 17A 19P
(208)Kirill Kudryatsev - 38 GP 3G 18A 21p

Todd Harvey has been going crazy at the draft when it comes to dmen.

In the system:

Tom Willander
Elias Pettersson
Sawyer Mynio
Kirill Kudryatsev

Probably had a say in getting Victor Mancini as well.

Traded:

Hunter Bru
Jackson Dorrington

I'd rather just wait for the off-season and open the vault for Rantanen or Marner. Would cost you nothing but greenbacks, with no assets moving at all.

First of all a center like that has to become available and while Lekk is a top prospect Hoglander and Mynio bring the quantity over quality question into play unless teams are really sold on untapped potential which they probably aren't.
