There's probably a positive correlation between the net worth of a league and how much the commissioner is hated.

I think an argument could be made that the league would have been much better with a different commissioner.

3 lockouts with 1 being a total work stoppage, and we narrowly missed a 4th but COVID happened. HORRIBLE expansion plans to non-hockey markets that hurt the league; Moving Winnipeg to Arizona/Phoenix, founding Miami, Nashville (Although they've slowly grown on me), Atlanta and then moving Atlanta to Winnipeg, moving Hartford to Carolina...

How much better would the league be if it had expanded to Houston? Or Portland? Or another Canadian city?

there's also a world where the league didn't have any lockouts and has no cap and half as many teams
