I'm over getting emotional about the last two games.

Looking at them factually, both games showed us why we won't make the playoffs. We're close, and if Jagr signs for another year, and if we make a decent trade or two, and if we don't lose any key young players, next year's expectations are obviously playoffs, and if they don't make it next season, they've got huge problems.

It's pretty much over folks.

The season was torpedoed in the losing streak after the Winnipeg debacle in week 9. They peaked right before then on that great road trip... and then crashed hard.

They have managed to maintain a good pace since then, but have never been able to make up the points they lost in that set. They needed a 5+ game winning streak and never got one.

Good pace is being generous.

Basically a point a game since the 5 game losing set.

27 points in the last 30 games, basically an 80 point team since the jets game.

Love the way we
Manhandled
Them!!!!

Gudbs set the tone all night, and everyone followed suit. I even saw Jags through a big hit during a scramble in front of Lou.

1 point helps. Obviously 2 would be better, but all-in-all we gained ground on the Bruins, who right now we're chasing.

We are 4 points back, with 2 against the Bruins, which would get us even if we won both, but we don't have the tie breaker.
BUT we also have a game against the Sens, which is a must win. The would close the gap with them, and give us the advantage over Bruins.

Just got to keep winning and getting some help along the way whenever we can. :help:

Well if we can snap our losing streak to Boston, I'm fairly confident Tampa can do it too. If they win in regulation, we will gain a game in hand. I'm loving this hockey, so entertaining when the games have so much riding on them. Lu looked a lot more confident tonight. Hayes finally getting that scoring drought dealt with. Pirri finally able to win it after coming close a couple times. The physicality we showed.

Definitely a playoff feel to it, we are very much alive here. Tampa on Tuesday, we should be ready and well rested. (I also won $500 in a poker tournament tonight :))

I like our chances against TB. We played great against them the last time we met, and we had Montoya in net. Luongo has been lights out since he returned, I'm hoping he can keep it up. Ten games left in the season. Twenty points on the table. Go out and do your best, Cats.

Need 16 I'd guess.

Yeah, I think 16 is ideal. 14 may be enough if the Sens stop winning. On the bright side, we've beaten almost all of the remaining teams at least once this season.

I'm a firm believer that if we hit 40 wins, and any loser point we get helps, we make it

Per sportsclubstats, 16 points gives us a 47% chance

15 points gives us a 25% chance

14 points gives us a 10% chance

But winning 14 of the last 10 games pretty much ensures a spot... :D

I'm just happy we have Ottawa for redemption on the last Ref BS game, and I;m confident the Rangers will beat em…need one more to get em to catch up to games in hand. We need to get 2 pts the rest of the way, anything else is just a bonus.

Ottawa's game in hand is against Pittsburgh on April 7th at home.

I already looked at everyone's schedule, Florida and Ottawa are comparable with Boston having the tougher one by a margin

The problem with that site's percentages is the default weighted method:

"The weighted method takes the opponents record and home field advantage into account when randomly picking scores".

If we ignore that (as we should), Florida's current playoff odds jump from 4.2% to 9.8%, which sounds about right.
