Why? Because this organization is the worst of the Original 6, mismanagement and losing have been a tradition for this organization. A few years ago during the 85th anniversary season(aka cheap pr 85 really?) they should have painted 85 years of mediocrity on the ice. It seems like the young guys on here always post positive things and portray a glass half full attitude, but myself and other vets see it half empty because history tells us otherwise. I'm sorry but I'm not excited for the season, sure I'm excited we have our favorite sport starting again, but I think alot of you are going to be in for a rude awakening this season, the team is small, soft, and lacks offensive talent. That's why Torts tried winning games 2-1.
Well stated and your comments ring true. You're a young fan who obviously sees the big picture and understands all too well just how piss poor this organization has been run over it's pathetic history and that still somehow in the divine wisdom/madness of management gets spun over and over again in a positive fashion so that the many gullible and naïve fans we have around here buy the crap they're selling lock, stock and barrel.
I too don't see what all the positivity is about with this year. Our roster is a freakin mess; completely flawed with only ONE legitimate 1st line player in Nash and a defense which is chockful of a bunch of clones(McDonagh, Staal, Girardi, Del Zotto) who are all softer than a bakery full of pastries and the next time any of them clear out someone from in front of the net or win a damn battle along the boards will be the first time that happens.
So, color me a debbie downer; tell me to go root for another team; whatever but that's just the cold harsh reality of a fan who has had season tickets for the better part of the last 45 years and who has been privy to all of the nonsensical ******** that has gone on with this team/organization during that time.
Look, I'm all for this team doing well and surprising negative skeptics like myself but history has taught me to not to get overly excited about things until the players lace them up and play.
