Brodeur won 300 more games than Hasek… and won the cup 3 times. He won 150 more than Roy, had a better save percentage and was an elite puck handler.

People don’t realize that the neutral zone trap, which dominates the NHL now, was made possible by Brodeur’s puck handling. He changed the game. Never gets the credit he deserves.

Lemaire brought his system with him to the Devils from Montréal where it had been used already during his own playing days. Sure Brodeur and Vanbiesbrouck being good puckhandlers affected how it was popularized by their success in the mid-90s, but you're giving (one of) them far too much credit here.

I wonder if there was a goalie in MTL for Lemaire's entire tenure there. Imagine if that goalie never won another vezina after Lemaire left the organization.

Surely that goalie would also gets his accomplishments discredited like broduer does

Brodeur vezinas without lemaire: 4
Roy vezinas without lemaire: 0

1) Gretzky
2) Lemieux
3) Orr
4) Howe
5) Crosby
6) McDavid
7) Beliveau
8) Jagr
9) Hasek
10) Ovechkin

8-12 are kind of interchable for me tbh with guys like Bobby Hull, Richard, Harvey but I like that as my top 10.

McDavid will surpass Crosby. I also think McDavid breaks up the vaunted "big 4" and surpasses Howe too.

Howe
Crosby
Roy
Beliveau
Jagr
Raymond Bourque

and McDavid. I don't think he's a top 10 player yet, but considering you're asking for "best", he definitely ends up there.

I think he ends up the third best forward to ever play hockey in the eyes of the public
