Player Discussion Thatcher Demko

They were saying he mentioned to Lankinen early in the game to stay warm he might need to go in. They as in, i can't remember. But early like the first period. He just wanted to feel it out.

I'm certainly no expert but Demko just isn't moving well to my eye. He's not tracking the puck or play at all. He's late to recognize where things are going and you could see it on multiple goals last night. He can't seem to move side to side with the quickness and control we have become accustomed to seeing. Regardless of the tire fire in front of him his play has been very poor since his return.

Right now I don't think he's any more playable than Silovs wasat the beginning of the year. Demko-Lankinen was supposed to be a big strength for the team. It certainly isn't.

He's been back in full practice and games for over 2 months now. To me it is officially panic time wrt his play. Still won't be surprised to see him be LTIRetired.

An east coast team with an old gm who cant stay up late enough to watch the canucks
So, nobody then. He is currently an injury prone backup that costs 5 mil a year who has started exactly 4 playoff games in his career (and that was awhile ago). He is without value, at least right now.

Demko: 2-3-3 record - 3.39 GAA - .872 Save %

3 goals on 4 shots last night.

Demko’s been garbage since coming back and Lankinen’s hot start seems to be fluky. Bring back Silovs.

Currently..

1. Silovs
2. Lankinen
3. Demko

There are so few A-Tier goalies out there, I think he'd generate a fair amount of interest this off-season if they decided to move on.

Probably contingent on him at least somewhat rounding into form this year. GMs know he's had a tough go.

I think he should have went on a conditioning stint coming back from injury.

So many players seem so stridently opposed to playing even 1 game in the ahl but it makes sense for any player come ng back from a significant injury

Especially when we just saw it with Hronek. Honestly it falls on the coaching staff with how it's been handled. To just throw the guy into the fire like this is very tough physically and mentally, even if he's medically cleared. Load management is something that's gone totally overboard in leagues like the NBA, but in a specific situation like this it's justified.

my guess is, just as importantly he needs to get into a place where he has 100% confidence in his body again
There's a chance his best days are behind him.

I'd absolutely let him go at this point, as I have no interest in signing him long term, even if he somehow bounced back next season.

Just hope we can get some decent value for him.
