man, what a fall from grace Nolan has had since the '12 run. sometimes i forget hes still on the roster...

Seems like this line can't do much against their match up. Is this just me?

They've had their chances, just have not converted.

If the top two lines can get going in NY, it can be...pretty sweet. The third line was on the ice for so much time Saturday because Sutter recognized they were the best line all evening.

I was looking for a Carter thread, but I couldn't find one. Found a whole bunch of Richards thread though...

Basically wanted to say that Carter at 5.3M is an ABSOLUTE steal!

Carter and the kids: Inside Kings dynamic line

"Both those kids learned that if you're going to come up and be partially ready you're not going to play for Darryl Sutter," Futa said. "If you're going to come up and be all-in with regard to all the different zones of the ice, with the way you're going to look after your body, you're going to be physically ready. They both had their time where they were sent down. Tyler [played in the 2013 playoffs] then started the [next] year in the American league. He wasn't ready. Tanner came up the first time and it was a brief stay, he went back down and in his first game back down he had a hat trick. … None of these guys went down and moped. They did what was necessary to be everyday NHL hockey players."

Adding Carter, now in his 10th NHL season, has proven to be the finishing touch.

"He's a great role model for them," Futa said. "He's the ultimate pro right now with regard to the way he handles himself off the ice."

"I was fortunate enough to know (Jeff Carter) when he was a quiet under-17 kid," Futa said. "He's the ultimate pro now. … He's the first guy who's at the rink in the morning. His physical testing is off the charts. I still try and picture him with his little blonde hair and glowing teeth. Now he doesn't have any teeth, got scars. His mug looks like a handsome Gerry Cheevers mask. He's just been through it all. The stuff that he's played through, the injuries he's played through, it's like he found new life when he came over from Columbus and everybody has benefitted from him.

-It may be easier to teach skilled players how to check/play physical then physical players how to score. remember some of Toffoli's first hits in the NHL where he threw the check and ended up on his butt.... good times..

-I believe a lot of the success from this line comes from everyone being able to make a pass and shoot.... It doesn't matter who ends up with the puck because they can all play. Swap Lewis onto the line for instance. Any time the puck goes to Lewis it's going to be a bad shot or flubbed pass leading directly to a turn over... Sorry for picking on you Lewis...

-one of the cheapest lines, cap wise, and most productive.

-Kings should try and reproduce this line with Richards and Zykov in the next year/2... Young skilled wingers with a strong center as a way of generating cap savings... This could be a "4th" line that gets sheltered time while they are putting things together. Target top 6 talent ELC's for trade that may be available because they aren't good enough defensively to play in a top 6, and aren't typical grinders... A situation like Sven up in Calgary comes to mind.

-Defense is surprisingly good from this line because they do not spend a lot of time in their D zone.

-Wonder if they give Sutter heart burn with all the passing/fast break transition and what not.

That would be one slow ass line…

But I do like the concept. Still remember when Richards skated between King and Nolan in '12 when they got called up and did surprisingly well.

I'll be honest: the fact the Kings are concurrently depleted until further notice actually made That 70s Line easy to get figured out and shut down, as shown in the concurrent streak in this road trip.

Marian, Anze, get well soon. :(
