Why would it be in the afternoon? This is the cup final, it should be in primetime

I would think it would draw more viewers. Saturday night a few weeks before Christmas most people have other plans.

Long range weather is -3 and snow.

Look at the F.A. cup and most other cup finals, always played in the afternoon.

U.S. television networks make the decision. It has to be prime time, and to be honest, night games always deliver a more lively atmosphere.

Completely different sporting and tv culture to be fair

Yeah for sure, I was just answering his question. Anyway I think the reason for the afternoon cup final on the weekend was for the fan's attending the games sake, they could travel to the match and get home on the same night.

That was an incredible game! Has anyone heard any details regarding tickets yet? I see some on StubHub and such but am curious as to whether some will be released on TFC's official site. Although I'm pretty much going to pay anything to get a seat at BMO on the 10th I think

Didn't think any were sold yet. Next week I believe they go on sale to non season seat holders. I think this week season seat holders are getting an advanced purchase window.

I wasn't a big soccer fan but with the Leafs down by 2 goals last night, I thought I'd have a look and see what all the hoopla was all about.

I instantly saw 2 teams playing in an appalling rain deluge and soaked right through and playing their hearts out, I became a TFC and soccer fan on the spot....Wow!

If you thought soccer was non contact that game had more checking than a sens game

Yup, on sale today to SSH, public sale Monday at 1

When Toronto FC midfielder Benoit Cheyrou scored the overtime goal that sent the Reds into the MLS Cup final, Chris Wright celebrated the team’s first major success in a decade with friends and strangers sitting around him at BMO Field.

Their parting message on Wednesday night?

“See you Dec. 10 for the final.”

But Wright won’t be sitting in the same place when Toronto faces the Seattle Sounders in Major League Soccer’s championship match next Saturday.

He’s one of a small but vocal number of disappointed season-ticket holders who found out Friday that they can’t get their regular-season seats for the big game.
Seems kind of crappy.

I wouldn't even say the number is small - seems like 60% of people that aren't in the south end got displaced. With numerous people seeing their tickets end up right back on Stubhub immediately after the on-sale time.

anyone know if they will show the game outside? something like they do with Jurassic Park?

Absolute effin' clown show is how this can be described. First they bumped season ticket holders from their seats only to see those tickets (allegedly) sold on stubhub... then there was this pre-sale at noon where the code didn't come (or at least not in time to buy anything). Finally the general sale at 1pm where according to some people, they were gone within ***30*** seconds. Can't win against the (ro)bots, but I wonder how many tickets were truly up for grabs - after the season ticket holders, Seattle fans, MLSE "vip" clowns, etc etc.

Did anyone here sit in the temporary stands for the last round in a seat with an "obstructed view"? I missed out on the extra tickets that were released at 10 am through the TTID list-serve (although I did get the code) but the prices came down on Stub Hub, so I grabbed a single ticket for a bit under $200 CAN, including fees.

I'm a pretty tall guy (6'1") and am game to stand for the whole match but am curious as to anyone knows what level of "obstruction" we're talking here. I'm in row 35 of section 316.

Edit: Sorry it says "obstructed bench" but this seems weird because I don't remember Stub Hub having that icon for obstructed view on it, so maybe it's not obstructed? My further amateur sleuthing is indicating that maybe all seats in the temporary stands say "obstructed bench"?

I was in 316 row 16. I'm 6'1" and couldn't see the far post when everyone was on their feet cheering. I didn't know Rickett's goal went in until the crowd reacted the way it did.

I'm not complaining. I had the time of my life. But those metal stands felt like they were going to collapse when everyone was jumping.

My ticket said "obstructed bench."

Good to know. To be fair, it was kind of a weird goal trickling over the line there.

This isn't an MLSE game in anyway. It is an MLS event and the TFC have no say in anything. This isn't a real home game. The bot thing is an issue for sure but it is for every sport and every major event.

Here we are folks!

I'm nervous, not used to having stakes in a final for a team I care about. But here goes!

Looks like it will be -5/-12 at kickoff .

Do us proud boys! And make it easy for my poor heart.
