I've been waving goodbye to Teddy for weeks now. I still think he could catch on somewhere else and be mildly effective, but on the Kings he looked done like dinner.

Teddy is a nice guy. I was hoping he would turn it around. Reading his interviews this past week and I think he knew. I don't question his heart or his work ethic.
If he clears great. If he doesn't oh well.

I guess Trevor Lewis is the first line right winger now. Now i'm depressed. but Trevor's played pretty damn good the last few games.

Yeah I don't think anyone is really faulting him for being a bad fit, it's just another one of many questionable decisions the organization has made over the past few years.

Think DL was hoping to get flash-in-the pan production from the guy. I thought he'd at least be serviceable. Unfortunately, he wasn't even that...

Purcell played like he was afraid to go after the puck. I don't see him getting picked up.

When Terry Murray was here we'd all rip him for trying to fit a square peg into a round hole by forcing a player like Purcell to be used in a checking role.

Second verse, same as the first.

There was a time when DL had Purcell projected as the Kings' future 1st line winger.

Dont know why people saying it was a bad signing. It was a good signing. Low risk, had potential for good reward. Didnt work out, we cut bait as everyone expected.

I'd still do it all over again. With our cap situation, DL didnt have any better options.

He had a lot of other options. Signing seto right away without the pto would have worked just as well. Bringing up a ahl player would have been better to me Give a rookie a cup of coffee and knowledge what the nhl is like being the best one.

Revisionist history. Purcell was signed way back in July for offensive depth before we knew what we had anywhere else. He was a guy who had reached 60 points before and has annually been good for near 40 if not more.

Seto didn't make an appearance until camp in September and was far from a sure thing after being completely out of the NHL and overseas.

None of the AHL players earned a spot last year and none of them impressed at camp at all, minus Kempe in flashes.

Can you imagine if we started the year with MERSCH penciled in on a scoring line? With the amount of lashing a guy like Shore gets on the 4th? Or Kempe, who is 11th in scoring on an AHL team?

No, back in July, DL really didn't have a lot of other options with all the uncertainty coming up ahead as well as with the salary cap.

It was a low risk signing that didn't pan out because other other options surpassed him. That's a GOOD thing, because otherwise we may not have seen Setoguchi emerge along with Dowd, Andreoff, Brown's resurgence, etc...making Purcell redundant is a good thing, not a bad signing.

Exactly. Nothing wrong with the signing.

Everyone wanted Lombardi to fix the team and not give up any significant futures since the cupboard is depleted. This was a low risk signing. I'm happy because his waiving means our forward corps is now full enough of players that we don't need any passengers just in case.

With the cap situation, I agree it was a low risk decent chance of a good reward signing. No term, low cap hit.

I wish Purcell well and hope he can get a chance to play at the NHL again.

Hopefully an AHL guy can get called up for a cup of coffee with the team.

I disagree i would have loved to have Mersch penciled in on a scoring line. Unlike most king fans I believe in our scouts and coaches to develop players. Dean and or Futa has said Mersch has done all he can do in the ahl and is ready to show what he can / can't do in the nhl. Signing guys like purcell seto and gilbert are just blocking our younger cheaper players. If nothing else i would think he would upgrade our pp After all he did score one in preseason one more then most of the kings i may add. I think kempe would do better in the nhl then ahl He is used to playing against older more experienced players it brings out the best in him We need to start having some faith in our ahl players You would think after how many we have home grown lately we would trust in the system I guess its engrained in king fans not to trust the farm team after so many years of it sucking but i hope at some point we as fans will
