To be a great Mount Rushmore it has to have big names, mixtured with impressive history for them in the franchise...

I go with:

Boston Bruins:
- Bobby Orr
- Eddie Shore
- Phil Esposito
- Ray Bourque

Chicago Blackhawks:
- Bobby Hull
- Denis Savard
- Patrick Kane
- Stan Mikita

Colorado Avalanche:
- Joe Sakic
- Nathan MacKinnon
- Patrick Roy
- Peter Forsberg

Detroit Red Wings:
- Gordie Howe
- Sergei Fedorov
- Steve Yzerman
- Terry Sawchuk

Edmonton Oilers:
- Connor McDavid
- Mark Messier
- Paul Coffey
- Wayne Gretzky

HC CSKA Moscow:
- Sergei Makarov
- Valeri Kharlamov
- Viacheslav Fetisov
- Vladislav Tretiak

Montreal Canadiens:
- Doug Harvey
- Guy Lafleur
- Jean Béliveau
- Maurice Richard

New York Islanders:
- Billy Smith
- Bryan Trottier
- Denis Potvin
- Mike Bossy

Pittsburgh Penguins:
- Evgeni Malkin
- Jaromír Jágr
- Mario Lemieux
- Sidney Crosby

Are this the teams with the best Mount Rusmore's?

Boston/Colorado/Edmonton/Moscow submissions seem cool...

However:
Lidström is a frightful omission from the Detroit quartet.
Howie Morenz is a frightful omission from Montreal.

Denis Savard is a frightful inclusion for Chicago. [Any of: Glenn Hall, Chris Chelios, Charlie Gardiner, Earl Seibert, Pierre Pilote or Duncan Keith are to be preferred.]

Edmonton is tough one now to make a foursome from (this is a good thing).

The classic 4 were: Gretzky / Messier / Kurri / Coffey (apologies to Anderson, Fuhr, etc.)

Then, about five years ago, it became (probably): Gretzky / Messier / McDavid / Kurri (in my opinion, Kurri added more franchise value than Coffey's 7 seasons).

But with Draisaitl now 4th in franchise goals and having won the Art Ross and Hart (possibly another one this year), and with McDavid 2nd in franchise points and with multiple Harts, Art Rosses, and a Conn Smythe, it starts to shift. Now, it might be:

Gretzky / McDavid / Messier / Draisaitl

Just like Pittsburgh, the Oilers since 1987 have produced 4 different players who won Hart trophies.

Patrick Roy's time at Montreal might have been better than his spell with Colorado, but with Montreal having so many good goalies in their history, you might be right that it's easier to include him on Colorado's list.
