WC: Team Usa 2025

This team is pretty much filled with all NHL talent. The entire starting roster should be NHLers. We typically don't get that much. It would just be nice to finally put the whole thing together and get a talented balanced roster. This team finally has competent goaltending to compete for gold. Would be a damn shame if we don't get enough proven offense to show up after the top 4-5 names.

This is a skilled group. The kids have talent. Hutson and Howard are likely odd men out unless an injury occurs, so here for the ride. McCarron and O'Connor have roles to play but could sit if other younger guys step up.

We still have the chance to land Hutson and Caufield, both would solidify this group as a gold medal contender. So as much as we always hope for more, this team is very very solid with a ton of upside...
They may have commitments already from Caufield and L. Hutson if the Habs are bounced. It would mean that the vast majority of the bubble guys for the Olympic Team heeded the call.

Yes, the RHD and 1C is the two spots I'm most concerned about. Right now Cooley is 1C, and thats ok, but I would rather see him 2C with a player like Larkin or a good playoffloser at 1C.

But as you say, Hutson/Caufield is to good to pass up. With them, something like this.

🇺🇸
SWAYMAN
DACCORD
SLUKYNSKY

SKJEI - VLASIC
X (Hutson) - KESSELRING
LACOMBE - LOHREI
PEEKE - C. HUTSON

KELLER - COOLEY - THOMPSON
X (Caufield) - BENIERS - GARLAND
GAUTHIER - NAZAR - SMITH
O'CONNOR - MCCARRON - BERARD
DOAN, HOWARD

If they get a better 1C, then

KELLER - X - THOMPSON
GAUTHIER - COOLEY - GARLAND
SMITH - BENIERS - BERARD
O'CONNOR - NAZAR - MCCARRON
DOAN, HOWARD

Exactly. We take this roster 10 out of 10 times...it is a bit of a bummer when we know so much talent is about to become available, but realistically just a handful would look at playing here after losing in round 1. Caufield and Hutson are both very much considered bubble players, this only helps them for the Olympics if they aren't banged up. And with Hutson's bro here, this is pretty much luring him like we did Alex Tuch..

Faber is on brink of elimination, just saying.

But he's also an Olympic lock so he doesn't really need to go. They should have done a humiliation ritual thing with Adam Fox since he played pretty bad at 4 Nations to tell him he has to come to be in the Olympics.. but he's pretty veteran and they won't actually cut him from Olympics.

I am still shocked at K'Andre Miller who said he would love to play if asked directly. Miller had an up and down year, but the guy is easily top 4 here and would have been a wonderful get though another LD. Unless he forgot he was a RFA when he was originally asked of course lol...

The USA RHD pool is very "in the playoffs" heavy this year.

Carlson, Pionk, Jones, Faulk, Faber, Roy, Jensen, Van Riemsdyk, Perbix, Chatfield, Pesce (now out, but hurt) in

Kesselring, Fox, McAvoy, DeAngelo, Murphy, Marino, Borgen not in

The NHL is a grueling season and it's easy to see that once they finally get to rest and recover from the season they do not want to step back into something else for a few more weeks. I mean, faber has been playing 25 minutes a night, someties 28 a night for like 6/7 months now. Guys need a break at the end of the day

They probably rightly saw him as behind Vlasic, LaCombe, and Skjei

He would only be behind Vlasic in my eyes, down year or not...
LaCombe has actually had a Norris-worthy season this year, especially given the team he played on and the tactical downfall of CroMagnon hockey. All underlying numbers suggest he was one of the 10, maybe even 5, best defensemen in the league.

But I guess as it always is the case with the Ducks: none of the big beat writers and spin doctors actually watch their games.

The beginning was impressive, then apparently there were refusals and they had to take just anyone.

It feels this is the story so often these days. I said already a couple of weeks ago that this is probably going to be the case again. Team is still good and there is a chance to go all the way but it is still quite disappointing that finally this team is not what we hoped for.

Hutson and Caufield would be massive for this team. Let's hope that least Hutson is coming.

I am surprised that Howard is returning to college.

Man, as much as I love Josh Doan and what he brings to Utah, it's less than ideal to select him for the national team. It is, however, interesting that he answered the call for us since I believe he'd be eligible for Canada, but I don't think he'd ever get selected for the Canadian national team.

It reminds me of several tournaments ago when one of our selections was David Moss of all people.

He is not eligible for Canada.

How is it even possible, start was so strong, i though that finnaly it will be great roster, with so young team usa never beat sweden or canada
You still have a good squad, one of the strongest in recent years. Thompson, Keller and Swayman are likely to play at the Olympics, Logan Cooley, if he continues to progress, may play at the next Olympic Games. Defensively, there are also reliable guys in the person of Skjei, Peeke and Vlasik. America is definitely one of the contenders for gold this year.

LaCombe has had a wonderful season. Hence the word season. Ignoring what Miller has done for 4 seasons is silly. The same thing you are saying about LaCombe many said about Miller just a year ago. The analytics backed it up too. I want to see players replicate their great seasons and LaCombe isn't there yet. We will see next year. I also feel the hate towards Rangers players has again gotten silly. Some calling Adam Fox a bum when that clearly isn't the case.

Miller had a down year but his body of work is ahead of everyone on this team at barely 25 years old. His name was the only name mentioned to start the season as a possible 4 Nations member. Skjei might have had some talk, but a bit older and not sure where he truly stands on the list. Vlasic is the one name that I look at that stands out the most. He has what USA Hockey has lacked.

It's a moot point anyway, we got to battle with who we have. I just see overreactions to a player having a good year vs a player having a down year. LaCombe I hope continues to play the way he has, I cheer and root for all the US players regardless what team they are on. Loved Fowler, felt he was underrated for years-has nothing to do with playing in Anaheim.

Hutson is unlikely to miss the opportunity to play with his brother.
