WC: Team Usa 2025

I would be shocked if Henry Thrun isn't on the team. His Sharks coach is the coach, young USNDP alum...perfect fit here. Miller and Skjei would fill out the rest of the defense nicely. Could be as well of a balanced group we have sent. Peeke is violent force of nature out there, I expect to see him plenty in the box lol...

Vlasic and Lohrei might be able to reach the entire width of the ice between their condor wing spans...

Daccord....it's always Daccord....

Why in the world doesn't USAH say the first guy of the NHL starters to accept gets the inside track (e.g., first shot) at the starting role. Crazy we could lose Wolf for the tournament because they're still waiting on other guys. I'd prefer Wolf of the 3 anyway.

It's no wonder that USA Hockey has a problem in their hands with their players. Guys who are committed have to wait on the wings when others have a hard time to make their decision. USA Hockey should reward all the guys who answer the call without a hesitation.

That said, it would be pretty unreal to have Swayman, Daccord and Wolf as our goalie trio in this tournament.

Just saw a Podcaster say this is pretty much the situation right now...Wolf, Daccord & Swayman...

I hope not. Thrun is absolutely horrible.

Think you just pick a guy (probably Swayman) and let the other guys know they’re invited of course but what the situation is so everyone goes in with the understanding. Goalies are weird compared to the rest because the backups are just sitting.

What was he the youngest regular dman on a dumpster fire team like that? He has always been a solid and capable performer. Played well in the games I saw against the Hawks and Stars this year. We can do far worse here than him.
I gave him a break for being awful last year because the team was a dumpster fire and he was playing top pairing minutes. This year, he couldn't even hold down a regular spot on the worst defensive core in the league. He was our worst defenseman when he was in, and we had some absolute stinkers getting minutes this year. The team's best stretch of hockey coincided with Thrun being injured.

He's awful, I'd send him to the ECHL if I could.

Strange why he was getting almost 25 minutes a night the final month lol..

Did you look at who we had on our blueline? It was Timmy Liljegren and straight up five AHLers due to injuries. Thrun was competing for ice time with Lucas Carlsson, Luca Cagnoni, Jimmy Schuldt, and the rotting corpse of Marc-Edouard Vlasic.
I would say getting 22-24 minutes a night the final month vs. belongs in the ECHL is a massive stretch...the fact that his coach is Team USA's coach is a pretty good indicator of what he thinks of the player...we will see if his name appears on this roster.

A lot of highly skilled young forwards have answered the call, very happy with the way the forward group is shaping up. I believe the fact that we have mutants like Lohrei and Vlasic here is because of how skilled and offensively focused this team might be. I would still want a couple of guys that can pk and play in all situations to truly round out the team, Noah Cates seems like someone who could do that - I am all for firepower but this tournament is still about balance and situational hockey (the refs suck). So maybe we have a few younger guys like Cates capable of some offense but can hold down the fort in the d zone as well..

And of course, still the faint hope Captain Larkin surprises all and shows up...

Also, for the first time that I can recall, this roster could be completely set with actual NHL talent prior to any first round knock outs. The level of skill we are getting I would say don't hold a spot for anyone in some faint hope they would show up. Fill the damn team out with players/younger guys who want to show up right now. The only name that I think would tell USA Hockey to save a spot if they could is Luke Hughes. His dream is to play with his brothers and that could be a reality next year for the Olympics. However he is in tight for a roster spot, and showing up here could really help that, Yes I know he got banged up, but outside of him I wouldn't keep a single spot open and for once go to battle with a full team right out the gate...
