I think that is generally true, but I understand the thought with Goalies, just not enough games for three guys to get in a rhythm.USAH needs to get away from the concept that since they asked 1 guy they can't ask another guy. The competition will make the team better.
If I'm Daccord, I say no. Daccord has a (good?) chance of playing for Canada at the Olympics, while he has NO chance of playing for the U.S.. If I am Daccord, I get my Canadian passport and I go to the World Championships - it might lead to an Olympic Gold Medal in 12 months. My guess is that Swayman and Daccord have been asked first. A guess based purely on messages from insiders.

I feel like in an ideal world you bring two guys that you would be comfortable being your starter depending on a number of factors...and then your 3rd can be a young goalie for the future. It isn't a short tournament, if Swayman and Wolf are your top 2 they can both get games and then let their play determine the rest.I mean I get it, but making this up, if Swayman doesn't want to come if he has to compete with Wolf for games then good riddance. Our program is too deferential. We need guys who embrace competition with the confidence to come out on top.
Especially with what happened to Lyon last year. If we had him the whole time USA had an even better chance to win. Both Wolf and Swayman are young so this is kind of unique. Not veterans. Didn't play a massive amount of games like Helle or Otter typically do. Swayman had a down year and "should" want to end on a better note. Wolf shouldn't even want to stop playing with how good he has been lol. There is room for both here. It shouldn't even come down to promising the net to 1 of them for either of them to show up, and I don't think that's the case honestly.I feel like in an ideal world you bring two guys that you would be comfortable being your starter depending on a number of factors...and then your 3rd can be a young goalie for the future. Swayman has become an entitled punk.I mean I get it, but making this up, if Swayman doesn't want to come if he has to compete with Wolf for games then good riddance. Our program is too deferential. We need guys who embrace competition with the confidence to come out on top.
Does Daccord have a Canadian passport? Wasn't that the issue for Four Nations?
Also wouldn't shock me if Perunovich gets asked. I can't explain why he hasn't put it all together but at times he can look insanely good and other times invisible. Still the kind of dman we would want here if most of the vets say no..he can move out there..
Ouch lolI don't want to go there yet. Not this year. I am still unusually optimistic.
"Become"?Swayman has become an entitled punk.
These high profile guys aren't going to leave their families and give up time in their offseason to travel to another country in a tournament that doesn't mean much to them to go be a backup. Gotta be realistic. You're realistically looking at a clear starter and then backup-worthy backups.I mean I get it, but making this up, if Swayman doesn't want to come if he has to compete with Wolf for games then good riddance. It's this "can't be bothered because reasons" mentality that produces also-ran WC USA teams. If we've "gotta be realistic" then nothing will change. These high profile guys aren't going to leave their families and give up time in their offseason to travel to another country in a tournament that doesn't mean much to them to go be a backup.
