Someone asked in another thread about Mattias Karlssons possibilty to make the team, but the thread was deleted after my request since Seachd already posted the squad. Heres the answer if you(forgot who asked) want to read:
----

Yes. He played one tournament and did fairly good. But he was benched in Brynäs while Niklas Andersson(born 86) was playing regularly on the team quite some time. But as you can see, Niklas didn´t make the team either. Which is a bit surprising since he did very good in SEL with nice hits and realiable defensive play. I´d personally seen Mattias instead of Stefan Erkgärds on the team. But its not like it will matter in the end.

But players like Elias Granath, Anton Strålman and Stefan Erkgärds are players who are playing a lot and are important to their teams in allsvenskan(tier 2; mens hockey). They might be totally unknown to you prospectfans.
Strålman was last year really popular among scouts after his impressive play in Skövde. But he decided to opt out, so he could play allsvenskan this year and more scouts to notice him and also to play JWC.

I want to see Nicklas Bergfors, I've never seen him play before and he could high in this up coming years draft. :handclap:

Wow! Way to go Svensson! :handclap:

I see you are from Saskatoon :) Has Svensson been doing well this season (I know his stats, but not his play) ? I was surprised when I saw him on the roster and had the tournament not been held in North America I am pretty sure he would not have made the team.

How can they name 13 forwards, 8 D-men and 2 goalies? I thought there was a roster limit of 22 players?

one defenseman will be cut from the team before the tournament.

Who's your pick, Pred?

It will be one of the following
Stefan Erkgärds
Elias Granath
Anton Strålman
Per Savilahti-Nagander

.. and I predict Stefan Erkgärds will be the one leaving this team.

Way to go Salmonsson!!!
1st line?
You can´t really apply that kind of theory in this team.
Basically its four lines who are even in strength.

Will probably look something like this:

1# David Fredriksson - Carl Söderberg - Linus Videll (biggest line, all 6'4" and its a lock)

2 # Loui Eriksson - Sebastian Karlsson - Daniel Ã…hsberg

3 # Kalle Olsson - Robert Nilsson - Nicklas Bergfors (Yes, Robert has been playing center this year and doing greatly in five nations in Växjö at this position).

4# Johannes Salmonsson - Mattias Hellström - Björn Svensson

Defense:

1# Johan Fransson - Oscar Hedman
2 # Ola Svanberg - Nicklas Grossman
3 # Per Savilahti/or Strålman - Elias Granath

Definately, the defense is on paper the best we´ve had in many years and the goalkeepers are really solid.

rivercanyon; How would you rank all of Sweden's participants, based on career potential and current value to the team?

With what rivercanyon said being true, don't expect the Swedish team to win any medals. The Canadian, American, Russian and the Czech teams are all stronger and IMO the Finnish as well since I like their offense more than Sweden's.

However, with a red-hot goaltender and some luck, a bronze medal game is not out of the question IMO.

How does Nilsson go from leading the team in scoring last year to the third line this year?

didn't Salmonsson make the team last year (my memory is very hazy)

yup he did. However, IMO he is not a better player at this point than he was last year. At least he is healthy now.

I'm sure most Blues fans are looking forward to watching that top line play. I've heard they have good chemistry together.

They are pretty awesome to see when everything works for them. I advise every team to keep their best crease-cleaning d-men on ice whenever that line gets going.

Hehe exactly. I wasn´t trying to hype the swedish team, because i think we don´t have a chance of winning the tournament. But as predatore says, with a lot of luck, maybe they can grab a bronze.
