Sedins are locks. They are one of our best players ever in NHL.

Its those 2 seasons why Renberg is on my team. He got injured at season 3 and never was the same.

Kenny Jönsson was great in NHL but never got the attention due to playing for Islanders. He was always good for the NT. Ask any swede here and they would put him on this team.
Swedes what do you think?

I mean I guess I can see some case for Jonsson but what did the Sedins ever do internationally and like I said they weren't great playoff performers.

Renberg wasn't even really that good I think maybe your related to him or something.

I don’t think they were bad on the national team, aside from maybe the 2010 Olympics which were disappointing. Their most memorable performance since juniors wasn’t in a best on best though, but the 2013 World Championships.

I think the Sedins and Renberg are all questionable. They can attend tryouts for the team, but they're not automatics.

I did not pick Sedins for what they did on NT but rather what they did in NHL.

Even so there were better Swedes to put on your first line and in best on best situations I'm not so sure they should make the team.

I already told you that line 1, 2, 3 are all first lines. I would roll top 9 equally.
Okay great and I've already shown that the Sedins aren't very good playoff performers or best on best ones so we will agree to disagree here.

At first I thought Sedins consistency and season long play do not help much in a tournament like this, where you could favor way more playoff-short tourney performance for good reason.

But, depending on the nature of the tournament, having that kind of chemistry on a line is really interesting and a big plus for them. Their peak was short but quite high.

Why no Håkan Loob and Kent Nilsson? Our best goal scorer ever (Loob) and perhaps our most skilled player ever (Kent).

Lundqvist
Lindbergh
Markstrom

Lidstrom-Salming
Hedman-Karlsson
Ulf Samuelsson-Ohlund

Mk Naslund-Forsberg-Sundin
Mt Naslund-K Nilsson-Loob
Zetterberg-Backstrom-Alfredsson
Sedin-Sedin-Sandstrom

honest question:

mats naslund - ulf nilsson - hedberg

or

mats naslund - kent nilsson - loob?

assuming we’d want a dedicated checking line, i built my roster from pairs we know have killer chemistry. forsberg/naslund, 2/3 of the hot line, sedins.

i guess a related question is would you fit those guys in at the expense of the sedins but i think everybody knows where i’d land on that front.

Been plenty of better d-men than Öhlund and Kenny. I take it as some here are quite young. The players who were good in viewers' youthhood tends to be stuck as heroses. One of my favs ever is Mats Åhlberg because he was top 5 players among swedes when I was 10-15 years old. But I would not pick him in an all time team.

We have had very many good defensemen thru the decades. To mention some:
Lars-Erik Sjöberg, Ulf Weinstock, Tommy Samuelsson, Thomas Eriksson, Calle Johansson, Anders Eldebrink, Stefan Persson, Magnus Svensson etc etc. I pick most of them before Öhlund and a few above Kenny.

I love these exercises. All-time Sweden teams are fun. I'm building my team based on chemistry and the intent of competing against well-rounded, physical teams.

Forwards
Markus Naslund - Peter Forsberg - Mats Sundin
Daniel Sedin - Henrik Sedin - Daniel Alfredsson
Mats Naslund - Kent Nilsson - Filip Forsberg
Henrik Zetterberg - Thomas Gradin - Tomas Sandstrom
Extras: Thomas Steen, Gabe Landeskog

Defense
Borje Salming - Nicklas Lidstrom
Victor Hedman - Erik Karlsson
Rasmus Dahlin - Ulf Samuelsson
7th: Stefan Persson

Goalies
Henrik Lundqvist
Pelle Lindbergh

I don't get the Sedins on the first line, at their peak they didn't really stand out at the 10 Olympics and the guy that did Niklas Backstrom isn't on your team?

I agree with you. Just off the top of my head, Peter Forsberg, Mats Sundin and Kent Nilsson were all much better centres than Sedin.

I would easily slot those three ahead of Sedin. Even if you want to slide Sundin to the wing, I don't think there's a credible argument to have Sedin ahead of Forsberg or Nilsson.

You don't have Kent Nilsson on the team at all? This is insanity.

Kent Nilsson is the most talented Swedish player I ever saw play the game. Also ... Hakan Loob, the greatest Swedish triggerman of all time isn't on your team but Gustafsson is? Who is Gustfsson is how did you rank him ahead of Loob?

Bengt Åke Gustafsson was a very good player.

Bengt Åke Gustafsson was a very good player.

I remember him well. He wasn't remotely on the same level as Hakan Loob.

He scored over 30 goals on time in his career. Loob scored over 30 goals in half of the NHL seasons he played and hit the 50-goal plateau.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to have Loob off the roster and Begnt Gustfsson on the roster. That's just silly.

I have both Gustafsson and Håkan Loob on my team Sweden. Both were very good.

As far as I remember, Gustafsson was more of a gifted playmaker who wouldn't score tons of goals.
