  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

AHLers who are doing great right now and their NHL teams won't make the playoffs: Rosén, Östlund, Brännström, Bemström, Lycksell.

Östlund would be fun.
It is a shame, that since forever (more or less) a player is automatically not considered WC worthy if he plays in North America and primarily in the AHL.

He could be an SHL start the season before, play in the World's, but no longer relevant if he spends the majority of the next season in the AHL.

IMO, NA scouting should not only be about the NHL. I much rather have skilled and talented 20-25 year olds from the AHL then a team filled with tired SHL and NL players.

(although with the amount of Swedish NHLers nowadays, I guess it is not as big of a case as before).

And agree on Noah Östlund. Definitely think he should have a spot

Sounds exactly like how he was described as two years ago, eh? Nah, he can go to the dentist again.

Ah yes the dentist thing! Lmao. He is such a dork.

Out of those i agree Östlund would be nice. Isak Rosen too. But only as try outs to EHT. If they do good there then the road to WC is open for them.

I think Hallam had Lycksell in Lakers.

Lets not forget there is skilled and talented players in SHL too such as Viktor Lodin, Hållander, ASP, Söderström, Niederbach, Edstrom, Cederqvist etc. Definitely rather have this guys than Everberg, Linus Johansson etc.

Liljegren, Eklund, Wennberg, Grundström, Backlund, Burakovsky, Adam Larsson, Edvinsson, Broberg, Stenlund, Sundqvist, Andrae and Engvall are realistic players who probably are missing playoffs who have contract for next season. I dont see the point with inviting in Grundström.

Eklund - Wennberg - Karlqvist
Burakovsky - Backlund - Silfverberg
Hållander - Sundqvist - Lodin
Engvall - Stenlund - Steen
Dahlen, Wallmark

Edvinsson - Adam Larsson
Broberg - Liljegren
Dahlbeck - Andrae
Gabriel Carlsson - Hultström

Lasse Johansson
Holm
Juel

Something like that is realistic. We will see how it goes in the shl and nla playoffs, someone might have a hell of a playoffs and make this team. Hopefully we get reinforcement from NHL playoffs and some players who dont have contracts still come or fix their contracts in time. I doubt players from 4 nations wanna play but it would be awesome if they want. Ahl players are a bit tricky, will they get a call up as black aces in NHL playoffs or is AHL playoffs more important for them than coming to WC?
Things have changed now. The Canucks will probably miss play-offs and St Louis will make it. Grundstrom is probably a decent 4th liner. I hope as many NHLers join as possible.

Elias Pettersson the young D could be an interesting try out.

Höglander and Lekkerimäki i like.

Åman and Linus Karlsson is a maybe for me.

Pettersson the F i dont think will come.

Grundström played 3 wc in row he brought nothing just some hits. We have better options.

I agree especiallly Lekki would be fun. Regarding Grundström you don’t even see him as a grinder on a 4th line?

I'd be extremely surprised if they invite AHLers. Rosén and Östlund be fun, but it aint happening

Hallam has actually invited an AHLer, Alex Nylander, though one can question if that was to entice William to come and play.

The same tired SHL and NL players getting to play is still a way too big thing, not counting goalies, Hallam's two Worlds has had 19 of them, so close to half of all invites.

I do hope Hallam keeps up inviting promising U19's for the stretch leading up to Worlds and gives them a fair shot to make the team. Frondell & V.Eklund, anybody? :naughty:

Nothing wrong having a few shl and nla veterans if they are actually good and play with passion. Rödin and John Larsson for exemple. But not too many and definitely not Everberg and Sörensen.

I actually think V Eklund is good enough already. Finland had Helenius so why cant we go with V Eklund?

I don't mind having young guys as spare pieces. If Frondell and V. Eklund is in the press box, they might learn something and develop. The likes of Bromé, Bengtsson, Sörensen will just eat popcorn and get fat.

If we have to play SHL guys as anything else than 4th liners, we are cooked.
