It feels wrong to spam this thread with game talk, maybe we should start a GDT and keep it there? Or the heck of it, the team is pretty much set and we just go on?

Could make a Carlson Hockey Games tournament talk thread but idk what the non-Swedish name for the tournament is.

E: it's Czech Hockey Games

Krüger looks good with the puck on his stick. When he doesn’t have it however he’s chasing the passes the defensemen are sending his way and loosing loosing draws.

When Eriksson was confirmed, everyone here said that he is awful and why do they invite him? I can told that he is always been good in Sweden's jersey. 2 goals in his first game for a while this is good start. Pettersson is also amazing...

Pettersson has calmed me down regarding Bäckström's decline. He's good enough as a #1 center. Even when he doesn't score, he still does stuff that... wow! He's good enough, he's ready to roll. Bratt is so golden with his tenacious skating, Nygård showed Grönberg he wants a spot on the team and I wouldn't even be against giving him that spot, he performed so well in that enviroment. As for our SHL defensemen; nope, you're not good enough to defend the Swedish net against NHL stars.

Loui Eriksson was certainly the biggest exclamation mark, he really knows what he's good at and when he plays in the proper enviroment (not Vancouver), he's so good at what he does. He's our Homer (Holmström) and he's a keeper for sure. I just want to brag I defended him previously in the thread and that he has a role. He knows his role when he plays for Sweden and the Swedish strategy and the overall quality of the teammates makes that so easy for him. In Vancouver he's paid $5.6m (or so) to suffer on the third line, not doing anything what he's good at.

Markström was fine, he had a hickup, but it's not like regardless how he would've played, the team won't give a couple of starts to Lundqvist either way. Lundqvist is also rusty, both goalies are quantity goalies that need time to get in the zone, so Swedish management can't hold on their answer for the #1 too long. They can't be mellanmjölk about this and it's a tough decision.

Biggest worry for me is the lack of natural goal scorers. While Pettersson is an all around offensive talent and surely can snipe, he's a playmaker foremost. Same thing with Bratt and Nylander. Lindholm is more of a 2-way forward with a good shot, and Hornqvist and Eriksson are complementary wingers who can score garbage goals on the power play. I feel like all these guys are suspect to goal droughts. They can take us far, maybe even all the way, but when it comes down to deciding games against Russia, USA and Canada, the declines of Forsberg and Arvidsson could come back to haunt us.

Anybody know why Lindholm didn’t play?

Happy if this team gets a medal in any form. Gold then im extatic. That would be way beyond what i expect. Russia will be a lot better next time. And if i would listen to some Leaf fans Nylander make everybody on his team play worse... i dont listen, but i still think gold is way to hard task fir this team. Please prove me wrong team Sweden.

What qualifies garpenlov to take over as headcoach other then being friends with the federation?

Don’t forget Rakell and Zibanejad

Good point. Landeskog would be perfect to fill that void.

I am envious that USA added 17 year old Jack Hughes. When was the last time Sweden added such young player to WHC? Backstrom in 2006 i guess.

Also big credit to OEL for always wanting to play WHC for Sweden.

No wonder, he is extremely talented, extraordinary skater and will play 3C at this age. Little worried that he may playmake too much in decisive situations.

I just absolutely LOVE how well Larsson works with OEL. Its like they’re made to play with eachother. Also I kinda like when OEL is the clear #1 on the team he just goes out there with swagger and confidence and flat out runs shit.

Dahlin was younger at the Olympics last year than Hughes will be in this tournament.

I wouldn't want a really young player on the team just for the sake of it. Let's say Lucas Raymond. But if good enough, fine. 0g4a in 4 WJC games is not exactly eye-popping, USHL & U18 is very very very very far from WCH. We'll just have to wait and see with Hughes. That one year makes a big difference.

Will Lukas Bengtsson make the final roster? And who will then be his ideal partner in defense?

Larsson always looks way more dynamic with Tre Kronor than whenever I watch the Oilers.

Very unlikely he played forward today since Lindholm was out I think that’s an indication about his place in the depth chart.

Grönborg has a way with stay at home dmen. I think its also a bit about confidence, with Sweden he may feel like he has a chance to win something. But mostly I think its Grönborg, last year in an interview he went on and on about how great it felt to be allowed to play the way you want to play and so forth in an interview.

Also why would you punish yourself like that? Watching McDavid on the oilers is like watching someone take a Filet Mignon , season it with f***ing taco-spice and cooking it on low heat in the oven for an eternity so its all the way cooked through and has an ugly grey surface.

McDavid on the Oilers is like Gary Oldman in The Bold and the Beautiful, it's shit but you'd still tune in to watch some Gary Oldman.
