Looks like a lot of skill guys upfront...
Shafigulin is more defensively oriented, I believe.

Malkin and Ovechkin both play good two-way game. Pestunov is nice two-way center. Than Nikulin has good mix of defensive and offensive skills, while Shafigulin and Yun'kov could be named as defensive specialists.Boomhower said:On a serious note, did Russia name any defensive/checking forwards?

MOGiLNY said:Thanks, Kaizer! RussianProspects said pretty much the same as you about Nikulin.. Sounds like his only weaknesses are softness and skating..
I don't understand though, if Nikulin plays centre in CSKA, why is he a winger on team Russia? I like the decision of spreading out the offense by putting Malkin and Ovechkin on separate lines, but maybe Nikulin could be the #1 centre then? Or is Pestunov better?
I think, It is about end of IIHF - NHL agreement. Teams prefer to stay away and wait. I don't understand why Megalinsky went undrafted: big, rock solid D, checks and hits everything is near.Leafaholix said:Anyone know why Panin went undrafted?
Is he a guy that may have a future in North America?
Of the Russian defensemen named to the team, who would you say has the bust complete package of offense/defense?Kaizer said:I think, It is about end of IIHF - NHL agreement. Alexander "I can't count past 30" Ovechkin. Mark my words! Richards will crush Ovechkin within the opening minutes of the Canada-Russia game to set the tone for Canada.
Nice. I like Khudobin.TORRUS said:Khudobin is #1. I think he is going to be great this tournament and I'm not worried about this years goaltending at all!
