Who do you think starts? Khudobin or Kuznetsov?

Khudobin is #1. I think he is going to be great this tournament and I'm not worried about this years goaltending at all!

On a serious note, did Russia name any defensive/checking forwards?
Looks like a lot of skill guys upfront...
Malkin and Ovechkin both play good two-way game. Pestunov is nice two-way center. Than Nikulin has good mix of defensive and offensive skills, while Shafigulin and Yun'kov could be named as defensive specialists.

Ovechkin and Malkin are going to be on the same line, right? Any idea who the 3rd forward will be?

JMHO, but I think it should be a little guy like Parshin. Ovechkin and Malkin are both big guys and this line doesn't need any more size while Parshin adds some excellent skill to complement Ovechkin's and Malkin's playmaking..

Whatever the case, I can't wait to see the Ovechkin-Malkin line in action! The 2 top draft picks at last year's draft, and 2 of the 3 best prospects in the world playing on the same line.. you've gotta love that. I hope they kick serious arse and show the world that you just can't f*ck around with Russia.

Now, It seems for me like:

Lisin - Pestunov - Ovechkin
Parshin - Malkin - Nikulin
Voloshenko - Yun'kov - Radulov
Galimov - Shafigulin - Shirokov

On D I can name only one pair for sure: Panin - Vorobiev
Don't know about others but like it was on last exhibition game:
Rylov - Misharin
Emelin - Ezhov
Megalinsky - Belov

Khudobin
Kuznetcov

Looking forward to seeing Toronto's draft pick on Russian top pairing.

:D

Thanks, Kaizer! RussianProspects said pretty much the same as you about Nikulin.. Sounds like his only weaknesses are softness and skating..

I don't understand though, if Nikulin plays centre in CSKA, why is he a winger on team Russia? I like the decision of spreading out the offense by putting Malkin and Ovechkin on separate lines, but maybe Nikulin could be the #1 centre then? Or is Pestunov better?

Anyone know why Panin went undrafted?

Is he a guy that may have a future in North America?

Malkin is C. Pestunov has experience of 3 WJC and he is C too. Youn'kov is C between Radulov and Voloshenko. Niukulin can play C at line with Shafigulin on the wing, but there is Galimov so Shafigulin will play at C, I think. Nikulin is good enough to be at WJC but all C positions are locked for another kids.

I think, It is about end of IIHF - NHL agreement. Teams prefer to stay away and wait. I don't understand why Megalinsky went undrafted: big, rock solid D, checks and hits everything is near.

Of the Russian defensemen named to the team, who would you say has the bust complete package of offense/defense?

My favorite Yakov Rylov. This kid came out of nowhere at the begin of this year (for me) and already has locked spot at D of RSL leader and team with lowest GA - Dynamo.
He is small guy but he plays big. I like him a lot. Yakov plays in all situations and looks very consistent even in PP and SH. I like his style of physical play. There is no great open ice hits in his game but he plays very hard. I can assume (from what I’ve seen) that Yakov is one of the best slot cleaners among young D's in RSL.

I just repeat myself from Russian Board at HF :)
