Clearly there is names on that list who wouldn't even consider it but there is also names who would not only consider it, but accept the invitation. If not even hope for it, it's the olympics! Give JJ some big guns.

We all know that the NHL does not really understand the concept of national teams very well - I would not consider this as an indication that IIHF would go along with it.

How ? Italians teams in all sports uses the diaspora. The Italian soccer team since the 30s has some South Americans on there team, Italian field hockey has argentines players on there team etc….

Not really sure what other sports have to do with IIHF rules/hockey. Also, just to humor you, in what other sports are the diaspora players 5 steps above the ones Italy has locally?

Be very interesting to see what choices Jalonen makes for the Div 1 worlds. Unfortunately, that's about the best measuring stick he will have before 26 unless they can organize some type of fall tourney with some teams ranked in the top 16.

AFAIK, in most sports the diaspora Italians are required to play in Italy for a set number of years before they can represent Italy.

The IIHF bent the rules a little for China at 2022 OG, but at least all participating players were playing for a Chinese team.
