Italy has a spot in 2026 og due to the fact that og is in italy. Kind of weird to have it in italy again, it was there in 2006, there is many other countries who never had or not had olympics in a long time that i think should have it instead. Oh well, this is what i think is Italy best possible right now, probaly not much will change. Lines might not be spot on.

The team is a mix beetween decent NLAers, a few good DELers and some pretty good EBELers. Clara, Tommaso De Luca, Purdeller and Segafredo are good talents who should be even better in 2026, but as of right now, i just see Clara and De Luca making it

Damian Clara
Andreas Bernard
Davide Fadani

Alex Trivellato - Phil Pietroniro
Peter Spornberger - Thomas Larkin
Dylan Di Perna - Randy Gazzola

Luca Frigo - Dante Hannoun - Alex Petan
Tommaso De Luca - Anthony Salinitri - Marco Zanetti
Giovanni Morini - Daniel Mantenuto - Angelo Miceli
Daniel Catenacci - Giordano Finoro - Diego Kostner
Michele Marchetti

Lots of players with roots from Canada

Thanks for getting this started... the last time Italy hosted they had put a fair amount of effort into increasing the size of the player pool with some dual nationals and they certainly didn't embarrass themselves in a best on best format.

I feels like they have a pretty large pool of candidates again and I'm going to have to do a bit of research before I lay down my prediction.

Ra, I think you have most... maybe another young gun or two breaks in.

Goaltending should be pretty straightforward: Few battles on D and a pretty long list of similar forwards: Danny Catenacci has not turned up for Italy yet. If he, does, he probably gets a spot. Diego Kostner would also be up for a check line spot if he decides to carry on with the national team. Not sure if Nick Saracino will declare by 2026.

Terrance Amoroso - Greg DiTomaso

Alex Petan - Daniel Mantenuto - Giordano Finoro

Tommasso Deluca, Alan Lobis, Tommy Purdeller and Sandro Segafredo are the next wave.

It's in Italy because they were willing to pay for it. The Olympics are a giant money pit and that's why you end up with places like Beijing hosting the Winter Olympics. There's been numerous countries that have decided against bidding on the Olympics due to the high cost.

Nyt jysähti! Jukka Jalonen siirtyy toisen maan päävalmentajaksi
According to finnish press Jukka Jalonen is Italy's next head coach.
Jukka Jalonen: ”Ei sopimusta Italiaan”
Jalonen says, he doesn't have contract but has been negotiating
Jukka Jalonen è il nuovo head coach della Nazionale italiana di hockey
Confirmed. Jukka Jalonen is Italy's next head coach. 2-year deal.

Jukka Jaloselta paljastus palkastaan
Jalonen is saying that italians are paying him as much as finnish ice hockey association did.
-------------
My guess who's his assistant coaches are:
Raimo Helminen
Ari-Pekka Selin
Markus Ketterer(goalie coach)
Jesper Jalonen(video coach)

This is an excellent hire.. Won't be pretty hockey but Italy don't need pretty, they need effective.

They need to sort out who is going to be in the player pool for 26 and they need to organize some important exhibitions or tournaments with those players.

Mike Keenan f***ing them out of being in the 25 worlds was a massive blow.

Olympic hopeful Gregorio Gios accidentally shot in stomach during a hunting trip by his father Andrea Gios, IIHF Council member and President of the Italian Ice Sports Federation. Apparently the wounds are not very severe, but nonetheless he is out indefinitely.
