Jaysus, people, you're droning on about this Kapanen drinking thing based on a single "KÄÄK" level article from *Seiska*, goshdarnit! Where are your critical thinking skills? Their reporting has at least two blatant counts where they're clearly coloring the truth, and it'd be no surprise if there's more.

I'm not trying to say Kapanen was in the Finnish fanzone drinking Mehukatti - in fact, a player who doesn't touch the bottle on an off day when the following day is an off day as well is probably a teetotaler. But it's still ungrounded to assume he was healing some kind of ankle inflammation, also known as the "Timo Jutila Syndrome". Could be he had one or two beers and then left to join his teammates, knowing he has to be at practice on the morning. And based on the management's reaction, this was indeed the case.

It's interesting that Kaps has been mr clutch all through his young career whereas Tolvanen has been statpadding against weaker opposition and consistently choking in big games (save maybe KHL playoffs hush hush)

Young Finnish guy drinking beer. Wow!
Reported by the ultimate arse-journalistic and social pornographic manure-publication you can find in Finland. Wow!

We have even entire EHT tournament named after beer label, so what is the problem.

One or two beers do only good for mind and body of an athlete (beyond that it is not so - of course), as a relaxant and energy drink.

That, when not taking any stance to Kapanen's character.

Because it's disrespectful and unprofessional. And no, they don't do "only good". And those reportedly weren't beers, either.

If he doesn't want to take it seriously(Which he apparently doesn't, also judging by his play) he should just have stayed home.

Seriously, to write that Kapanen has put out "a garbage effort" or to say that judging from his play he doesn't "take it seriously", is just ridiculous hyperbole.

Let's try to keep this as a serious discussion.

Drinking alcohol and "not taking it seriously" can be hardly applied to any group of people as a whole, hockey players included.

Yes.

How about those money hungry stalkers with cameras and cellphones, how about them taking persons' privacy seriously.

Hockey bosses and representatives drink brandy and whiskey, and... beer, it's ok and professional. Hockey player drink a beer, and it's unprofessional.

Come on, the tournament is in the Denmark. It's incredibly hard to avoid temptation.

I can see that Marjamäki is unfortunately continuing with his godawful coaching. After having the IQless speedster that Kapanen is ruining the chemistry of the 1st line and stubborbly using the godawful mr. Stonehand SlowPokka as the 1st PP quarterback he now makes the 3rd line as Jormakka-Manninen-Tolvanen against Canada. What is this guy really? An absolute imbecil or what? That line has absolutely 0% chance of working well, and especially against a team like Canada. It’s also like throwing the very promising but young player like Tolvanen completely to the wolves.

Two midgets whom have been absolute floaters and the two worst forwards in the team and then Tolvanen added with them, and he is also a kind of smallish guy whom is not too physical and had also in the latter part of his season some floating problems. I mean, I sense an absolute catastrophe within that line. Late Lammas is just seriously an idiot, and his judgement is just so often absolutely questionable. Not much of chances that he won’t after this tournament achieve the title of the worst ever Finnish national team coach of the modern times.

Kilpeläinen registered.

No Rinne, no Saros.
It was pretty much a nobrainer that neither of them would really come. Saros without contract made it useless to even speculate that he would come and the way Rinne’s season ended, I was at least pretty sure that he would decline the invitation. I dont think that he wanted to take the chance of screwing up even a second time this season. He has been that inconsistent in the playoffs that he probably realized himself that it could lead into a fatal result for the national team if the same way would still continue at the wrong time. Good choice by him to not come.

Hopefully Finland faces Korea again in the QFs.. or Latvia
It’s a pity we dont have 0+0 Puljujärvi in the tournament. He would probably be a much bigger help than Aho? Don’t you think so as the biggest Pulju fan on earth?

I really think the Jet's should try to aquire Pulju from the Oilers. I've watched him play, and I think he has huge upside, and the Oilers hardly played him. The Jet's could probably pick him up on a trade with the Oilers, as they are looking for players. The Oilers really want a defenseman, and we have a couple.

I dont think he’s a lost cause for sure. Could be in fact a useful player for the Jets, if he gets his game together. But so far he has definitely been a disappointment. Especially in the Finnish men’s national team unfortunately. And now he declined going to the WHC, which was probably better, as he was nursing some slight injury at the end of the season.

I think you would know better than me Ipp on Pulju. I haven't seen him play that much, but from what I did see, he's a good size and fast skater. I think as he matures he'll come into his own --that's my opinion. I guess he hasn't been playing that well lately for you to make a comment like that-- but you follow a lot of Hockey, and would know.

I also believe at one time he was rated higher than Laine by Central scouting. He's very young still, and could really surprise people in the future. I guess he's not playing that well at all right now. I wonder why he would descend so fast from where he was rated at one time.

Because the Jet's have a lot of Finnish players, he may feel a lot more comfortable in Winnipeg with his fellow countrymen. I might give that a shot if I was Chevy --as he probably could be aquired cheaply.

Yeah I agree, if you have a player with clearly better skill set you put him on the ice, even if he shoots wrong side.
Heiskanen is going to be the Aho of our defense, and I bet he'd create better plays than Pokka from the point.

I agree with that.

Really sucks about no goalie reinforcement.

I hope Finland beats Canada 10-0 its so frustrating read these negative comments. We have a lot young players and they have play good tournament so far.
The problem is in general still Marjamäki. He is simply stupid with his decisions way too often. Some player choices also simply moronic, like Manninen, Jormakka, Pokka, Koivisto and Niemi (well got after all sent back home, as Tolvanen came to the team) are all players whom simply are not good enough to play in this tournament that has so many good NHL players. Jani Lajunen should have been picked to the team for making the bottom lines strong enough with strength and some experience, and Vesalainen and Jokiharju or Juolevi should have been both picked instead of the horrible choice of Mr. Stonehands SlowPokka, whom is honestly an absolutely terrible defenceman at this level. Even what problems the lack of experience of Jokiharju or Juolevi would have caused, their skating and skills with the puck would have made them enormously better players for the team. I can guarantee that it would have been the case even how much some all knowing people here seem to believe in Marjamäki and his stupid choices.

Also using Kapanen in the 1st line is simply idiotic, especially now that Tolvanen came to the team. Kapanen lacks seriously hockey IQ, and also consistency with his puck controlling skills. He is purely an energy guy at this skill level, and should not be playing on the power play at all, at least now that Tolvanen has joined the team. Kapanen honestly seems like a guy who lacks IQ on the ice and also off the ice, and I have also heard quite a lot about how he can be a bit of a locker room cancer with his arrogance and entitledeness. Still probably a useful player as long as he would accept a role as an energy player in the 3rd or 4th line.

The real threat for this team is simply Marjamäki. I honestly have zero trust in that guy as the national team coach. He is simply Late Lammas, whom seems to be lost most of the time. And makes way too much of even completely stupid decisions and choices.

Our defense is horrible (f***ing Pokka out of all people in the 1st line and PP) and we technically don't have any centers. It's about time that Marjamäki shows some grit. Finland used to have rosters way worse than the current one and we still always managed to come out guns blazing against tougher and stronger opponents.

Did anyone mention yet that Tolvanen will be in 3rd line and in second PP unit. Good decisions IMO with him coming in with such a short notice.

Marjamäki: Tolvanen on treenannut NHL:n seiskafinaali mielessään – "Olen kuullut, että hän on hyvässä kunnossa"

1:
24 Kasperi Kapanen - 64 Mikael Granlund - 96 Mikko Rantanen
41 Miro Heiskanen - 2 Ville Pokka
2:
19 Veli-Matti Savinainen - 20 Sebastian Aho - 86 Teuvo Teräväinen
55 Miika Koivisto - 77 Markus Nutivaara
3:
25 Pekka Jormakka - 65 Sakari Manninen - 81 Eeli Tolvanen
4 Tommi Kivistö - 6 Julius Honka
4:
18 Saku Mäenalanen - 22 Janne Pesonen - 12 Marko Anttila
50 Juuso Riikola 13. hyökkääjä: 34 Olli Palola

NHL-vahvistuksia ei enää tule – Leijonien MM-joukkue on valmis, Tolvanen pelaa tänään kolmosketjussa

Where did Suomela go? Will be interesting for sure.
