We have the best international head coach of the world at the moment; Jukka Jalonen and he is also one of the best coaches overall
outside NA, we'll have a strong roster to the worlds with or without NHL players. With the best coaching, we are favorites to win.

We have a quality u20 coach at the moment, we'll have one hell of a roster to the WJC's even without Heiskanen,Kotka,Jokiharju etc. etc.
-even if it is a known fact that we have had little success on the NA soil when it comes to WJC's, however,..
these games seems so much different what previous ones because of type of players we have.

Our u18 WJC team looks good, plenty WJC players who are eligible to these games as well.
Several u18 players already played as pro's in the Sm-Liiga this season.
- these games are played this side of the ocean

I don't know what Finland has been doing lately in their hockey program from the ground up but whatever it is it's working big time. I would be going in very concerned against this team in a one game winner take all affair, very concerned.

It's just the childs born during our BOOM era (94 to 99) are now adults. Two decades of hard work from their parents.

***

My Team Finland for World Cup 2019 would be:

Laine --- Barkov --- Rantanen
Mi.Granlund --- Koivu --- Kapanen
Teräväinen --- Aho --- Armia
Haula --- Suomela --- Donskoi

(Lehkonen , Kotkaniemi, Ma.Granlund)

Lindell --- Vatanen
Heiskanen --- Ristolainen
Määttä --- Nutivaara

(Välimäki, Jokiharju)

Rinne
(Rask, Raanta)

Has that ever happened for the US? Expect some of them to fade before the draft..

11 in 2016.

I wasn't even counting Kaliyev. He's not in the NTDP, but his team won't make the playoffs, so he might be added. He's a potential top ten pick.

They beat Finland a week or two ago with one of their main stars out injured, and I don't think they've lost an international game the last two seasons. Some of these games aren't close.

Thats not to say Finland couldn't beat them, but Finland is not a lock for U18 Gold.

In a big ice tournament coaches might choose players like Tolvanen and Puljujärvi instead of someone who's played better in the NHL. Tolvanen has been great in the national team.
He's also got that big trigger man shot, that's an asset that just can't be discounted. I know you already have one of if not the best guy in the game in that department but can you ever have too many on a team?

He would have to be given serious consideration I think.

I think Finland is lock for U18 gold. smile

Finland is not a lock for U18 WJC gold really likely we have to survive in U18 WJC's without Kakko.
TPS is number 1 challenger for Oulun Kärpät in SM liiga this season.
And without surprises Kärpät and TPS will be final teams too.

If / when TPS goes to liiga finals Kakko will miss U18 WJC's.
Also i don't see TPS releasing him to U18's next year (2019).

And being honest Kakko doesn't have nothing to prove in U18 WJC's anymore.
He's locked TOP3 pick already and every NHL scout knows that.
Kakko won't need U18 WJC's to boost his draft stock.

I like the top 6 and top 4, but I have a bad feeling about that bottom 6 and bottom pair.

Remember, those guys would be matching up with "lower end" players like Tavares, Hall, Scheifele, Connor, Nylander, Subban, Zucker etc. The depth kills in these tournaments, since everyone has lethal top liners.

Kinda looking for next Olympic roster:

Laine-Barkov-Rantanen(C)
Granlund-Aho-Teräväinen
Vesalainen-Kotkaniemi-Tolvanen
Kakko-Borgström-Kapanen
(Puljujärvi?...)

Heiskanen-Ristolainen
Lindell-Jokiharju
Valimäki-Vaakanainen
(Juolevi?...)

Raanta
Saros
Korpisalo
(Husso?..)
Some of the players are not just ready... they will be for next Olympics. We should have a realistic chance to win Olympic gold. Actually we should win it.

Haula - Barkov - Laine
Teraviainen - Aho - Kapanen
Granlund - Koivu - Donskoi
Komarov - Filppula - Armia
Lehkonen, Kotkanieme

Lindell - Risto
Heiskanen - Jokiharju
Nutivaara - Vatanen
Matta, Lepisto

Rinne
Raanta
Rask

Thoughts?

A Team

Patrik Laine - Aleksander Barkov - Mikko Rantanen
Teuvo Teräväinen - Sebastian Aho - Kasperi Kapanen
Mikael Granlund - Mikko Koivu - Joonas Donskoi
Artturi Lehkonen - Valtteri Filppula - Joel Armia
Erik Haula

Miro Heiskanen - Rasmus Ristolainen
Esa Lindell - Sami Vatanen
Olli Määttä - Markus Nutivaara
Henri Jokiharju

Pekka Rinne
Tuukka Rask
Antti Raanta

B Team

Henrik Borgström - Jesperi Kotkaniemi - Jesse Puljujärvi
Markus Granlund - Antti Suomela - Eeli Tolvanen
Roope Hintz - Jori Lehterä - Kristian Vesalainen
Markus Hännikäinen - Juho Lammikko - Miikka Salomäki
Ville Meskanen

Juuso Riikola - Julius Honka
Juuso Välimäki - Urho Vaakanainen

Forget best on best for a second, what are the chances right now that Puustinen will make the World's?
He was born the exact same day as one of my brothers, so he is family.

/The Mayor #29

Laine - Barkov - Rantanen (this is the must be top line with the point and assists leader and a goal leader in NHL and top3 center)
Teravainen - Aho - Kapanen (Carolina boys together of course with Kapanen so the 3th line is also effective)
Haula - Koivu - Granlund (Minnesota boys with one ex min together also so 2nd and 3th lines are as good)
Armia - Kotkaniemi - Lehkonen (All 3 Montreal boys together for sure)

Donskoi, Filppula...
