Winning this tournament is not particularly all that important. It's nice, but it's just a bonus, a perk to what this tournament is and why I follow it. It's a training exercise for a select few players with A-Team Team Canada aspirations to get in some reps for future best-on-best tournaments. It's pretty obvious at this point that this iteration of TC there are zero players who will be pushing for spots on a best on best TC roster in the next 4 year Olympic cycle anyway. If
Dach had not been injured as was there and if
Lafreniere had accepted an invite, if
Jamie Drysdale had accepted an invite, players of that caliber and ilk, I'd still be interested in this team/tournament. My prediction when the roster was named that they should qualify for a 1/4 final game, but should be done by then. They weren't prepared, were poorly prepared, and that's what happens with zero practice/prep time. So, on to next year's roster.
