Too early for Bedard and Celebrini. Other than that, well done.
I’m of the opinion that Celebrini is already close and by next year will be an absolute lock. Defensively sound with offensive potential that surpasses all the guys in the bottom slots. He’s elite and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him supplant someone like Stone or Scheifele in the top 6.

Bedard is one where it’s feast or famine. Canada doesn’t traditionally stack a roster with these guys but I’m sure he gets added to the team.

Like I said earlier, if he falters you have a bunch of plug and play options available to create a safe and stable limited minutes line. I don’t think bringing 3 extra Swiss Army knives is better than bringing 2 + Bedard. We’re seeing in this tournament that offence isn’t as easy to come by despite the stacked rosters.

I think he'd recognize that its time to pass the torch to the greatest player on the planet.

Nope. Over rated. Played his way off the team after these games in my opinion. He's been a ghost.
Yeah I agree, about Crosby passing the torch. Especially if the USA win 4 nations. Sorry Sid, you need to pass the C to mcdavid like taveras passed the C to matthews

Like to see some younger faster guys get a chance on the big ice. But I think they go vet heavy again.

Hyman McDavid Point
Crosby Mackinnon Reinhart
Hagel Thomas Marner
Konecny Scheifele Stone
Suzuki

Toews Makar
Theodore Pietrangelo
Morrissey Sanheim
Harley

Thompson
Hill

Good team.

You don’t put Hyman on this team. He finds success with McDavid not due to some chemistry a la McDavid + Draisaitl magic. He finds success because he’s good around the net. With the puck he is atrocious and is the cause of a lot of my frustrations with the Oilers (I’m an Oilers fan).

Stone and Point are both much better options than Hyman. Love seeing them both go to the net hard in this tournament AND shore up the areas wingers like RNH and Hyman utterly falter in back in Edmonton. For example seeing Stone collect pucks up off the wall in the defensive end and make a clean pass to McDavid in stride to break out is a rarity back in Edmonton. I posted on the Oilers board that I’ve seen 97 get to skate the puck up the ice in full stride more at this tournament than he has got to all year in Edmonton. Stone and Point are big reasons for that.

In contrast, Marner and Reinhart completely failed in this regard. Reinhart playing well with guys who do their own crash and banging in the last game…but he is a perimeter guy who I don’t necessarily think has a spot in an ideal lineup. Marner and him are fine in very limited roles IN PLACE OF the Cirelli/Konecny/Jarvis guys…you don’t want to be bringing them all.

Crosby-McDavid-Point
Stone-MacKinnon-Scheifele

I think you run a top 6 that has all players going hard. Burning with speed, crashing the net, not afraid to bring it to the paint. This is Canadian hockey as it should be played and this tournament has done a wonderful job illustrating who can and can’t hang in best on best. Willing to move Stone off there if he’s struggling with another player who will play psycho hockey.

Bedard-Celebrini-Marner

That’s a line I would bring to the table to play limited minutes. Young high end skill that may flourish or falter. You bench guys at the Olympics and your players like 97 and 29 can double shift and there’s no issue running 2.5-3 lines in those tournaments. They’re good to go. Bring these kids and see what they have. Sit the kids and bring in your Swiss Army knife players (which we have an endless amount of at this tournament for example) if they aren’t getting it done offensively early on in the tournament.

Bennett-Konecny-Suzuki

I’m a huge fan of Bennett but again, we’re getting to the minute details here and any of 10 players would adequately slot into that spot. He’s my choice though.

Extra options:

Hagel
Johnston
Reinhart
Holloway
Jarvis

Crosby-McDavid-Point
Stone-MacKinnon-Scheifele
Bedard-Celebrini-Marner
Bennett-Konecny-Suzuki
Agreed. I don’t see how a 33 year old declining Hyman would be on the 2026 team, especially if he wasn’t on this team.

There’s just too many better players that would be an option imo. Point seems to mesh well with McDavid.

Also went and skimmed the scoresheets for the last Olympics... at least 10 minutes and sometimes nearly 20 minutes of almost every game was special teams. If you can't kill penalties you aren't making the bottom six imo. You're looking at 3-4 shorthanded situations per game easy.

Though McDavid and MacKinnon are going to draw so many power plays maybe you don't need to worry being short handed as much.

I don't know why people think Sid won't be the captain next year. Don't over think it. Crosby being the captain in the 2020s is the same as Lemieux being captain in the 2000s. When you have a certifed legend, they earned it wearing the "C".
Yes when you have a certified legend he should be captain, that’s why it should be mcdavid.

Reinhardt and marner have been underwelming outside of the 3v3 marner goal. But they likely remain on the roster due to their defensive abilities. I don’t think an aging stone is on this team. He gets replaced by Celebrini.

...Crosby's been the face of Canadian hockey for a generation, like him or not...he's Captain of this team until he isn't here anymore...and that is EXACTLY the way it should be...and comparing McJesus' "Status" to Crosby's right now is also absurd...

You don't think there will be a passing of the torch with Sid wearing a "A"?

Tom Wilson might have been a good fit for this team with NHL refereeing. He’d be a terrible pick with international reffing. He’d be in the box all game
Team Canada really didn’t think this out. 4 nations is under nhl rules. Fighting you do your 5 mins and then carry on. Tom Wilson would have been tailored for this tournament. Concerning the Olympics, I think you get suspended an extra game for fighting, so the Tom Wilson factor kinda gets eliminated.

...he hasn't been good, imo...he can't carry or even pass the puck well, just flip it away like it's a live grenade...he's slow as Hell and I personally think he has been a disappointment defensively...he's got SIZE...that's really been it, imo...
Parayko slow? Have you even watched the games?
