WC: Team Canada 2025

Here we have quite a lot to talk about. Firstly, Crosby seems unlikely. Probably thats why they have asked Horvat instead for the 1C spot.

Hayton is also C, so Horvat, Celebrini, Fantilli and Hayton likely, with O'Reilly moving to RW. Or Hayton as RW, with O'Reilly in as 2/3C.

Then Kadri is out, so that rumour was false.

As for defence, Montour and Evans play together in Seattle, so then Top 4 is likely ready with Dobson in.

Bedard is also not there, as I expected.

Players like Dunn, McCann, Chabot? Not there either.

Lastly they clearly is struggling to find good enough Goalies.

Extra forward spot in Olympics, +Marchand and Konecny likely to be left off makes room for all 3 guys. I think Suzuki takes Cirelli's spot though, leaving room for one more guy.
 
I struggle to see O'Reillys role here. He is normally a clear 2C, but with Horvat, Celebrini and the duo Johnson/Fantilli he is kinda left out.

4C is open with Hayton going to 4LW, but they could choose to slot him in as 2RW instead. But kinda strange, cause I doubt they give him a bottom line 4C.

But lots of possibilities in offence, while G is bad, and D is great. D is basically all the bubble-players in top 4-5 with Sanheim, Weegar, Dobson and Montour. Only Dunn is missing there.
 
In a Olympics, yes indeed. In a World Championships, I think its a to small role for him.

But, I certainly hope so. if so, the C is stacked! But they already have 5 centers with Hayton also coming in, so they might have some plans. One could think that they are buying themselves some options as to which players say yes from the playoff-losers.

Because with the base they have now they could just take "the best players avaliable" for the remaining and fit them in anyways.

Nice, excellent start. I'm happy even if they augment them with fairly mediocre players but I'll hope for more for now.

O'Reilly can play C or LW easily. He fits pretty much anywhere on this team.

Yep. I put him in the 2-line right now, but its all in the air.

This year I will enjoy watching Team Canada even more with Konecny, Sanheim & Foerster on the team. Real strong team, curious to see who are going to be the remaining names. There are now a lot of options from Montreal and Tamp Bay.

Playmaker82: Lafreniere or Schwartz would be already on the roster, don't you think? So that's really unlikely.

Hagel got injured in the playoff, I doubt he'll come.

Brandon Hagel left game 4 against Florida with an injury and then did not play game 5. I'm unsure of the nature of the injury, but he might not be ready to go for the tournament because of it.

Right about Schwartz. He will probably not be there. As for Lafreniere I read that he was gonna talk to his agent about it, so maybe.

But yeah, not likely I guess...

Ah, thats true. We can probably scratch him off... Not many 1LW left on the table, even including the likely losers in Playoffs..
 
Looking at that number of players, there must be several players they are waiting on, not just those who might be available after round one. I'd like to see a top forward or two but the defence already looks really nice, maybe a bit of steel on the back end and penalty killing help but it's all set.

Yes. If LAF got told, "Thank you but no thank you", that's pretty bad. Who tells a 1OA you cannot be on our WC team?

Yep, I agree @JackSlater

10 players remaining.

1G, 1LW, 2LW and 3RW.

Then a third goalie, some bottompair D and a healthy scratch, and then two healthy scratches in F.

So we shall not expect more than 2-3 "big" names.
 
Lots of fringe Olympic team hopefuls on this roster. Playing for WC might just be enough to make the team if it's a very close decision between two players.
