If there are sweeps in the second round of the CHL playoffs can people be added?

depends on how many they actually register on Wednesday if they actually want to keep roster spots open, but going by the lineup above, there are only 2 roster spots available, 1 goaltender and 1 skater (forward or Defenseman)

actually they did bring a 3rd goalie over iirc. so, 1 skater.

Ok guys please I know nothing of these players. Please rate these players

Thanks

what do you want, a player by player ranking?

I'd say there are about 4 really good players on the team, the rest are just guys not much to write home about.

Don't really know much about the level of competition from the other teams, but generally Team Canada at this particular tourney has to overachieve in order to reach the gold medal game. I told you before, the most likely outcome would be a bronze medal game and a 3rd. or 4th. place finish. if things go poorly, 5th. or 6th.

nah, i dont need a write-up just how do they fair as a team?

what is their strongest quality, weakness , so on

I'd say their top offensive players are Anderson-Dolan, Comtois, Mattheos, Strome, and Ratcliffe. The '00s are talented but are a bit too young to be expected to carry the offence. Comtois is more of a two-way, big PWF player, Strome and Ratcliffe both skilled big players. Mattheos and Anderson-Dolan, strong offensive players.

Defence is fairly weak, Mitchell and Brook are alright for their age group, McIssac, Merkley Woo are the a year young but they have more talent.

5-4 W against Switzerland, 5-4 L against Russia. I'm expected a 4th place finish if everything goes right.

thanks. you beat me to it. Those were the 4 good players to whom I was referring. I exclude Strome from the list, b/c I have never really been a fan of the Strome brothers. In fact I don't think Canada has ever won an international tournament in which one of the Strome brothers has participated. not sure about U17. hopefully the 3rd. brother is the charm, but I'm not looking for Matthew to break the jinx at this tournament.

Are you counting Hlinka? If so, Dylan Strome won that with the 2014 team and was one of their best players alongside Marner if I recall correctly.

I never count Hlinka. but he did okay there. I think there were 5 or 6 players that were as good, if not better than Strome at Hlinka 2014.

Yeah I don't really like how Dylan plays either. Not my type of player. I like Matt though, he's got some bite to him and he plays hard.

Portland lost, Glass is available.

Could get Studnicka since Oshawa plays Saturday afternoon and is down 3-1, Frost plays Sunday and is down 3-2. That's probably the most we get. Could get Teasdale from Blainville they are down 3-2, but have to wait a couple days.

Hello Canadians who's gonna win today?.
Finland has been unbeaten in first 3 games but how's today?.

Finland's top line Vesalainen Ikonen Nyman has been really good.
But Finland isn't one lines team.

Other lines can produce as well and our defence is solid.
Goalies are good also.

But this game will be different than Slovakia,Switzerland and Latvia games.
This game won't be high scoring race like 2016 U20 quarterfinal in Helsinki was ( 6-5 to Finland).

Overtime or shootout contest wouldn't be surprise today.
Players to follow in team Finland

Kristian Vesalainen¨
Joni Ikonen
Linus Nyman
Miro Heiskanen
Ukko Pekka Luukkonen
Rasmus Kupari ( 2018 draft eligible)
Jesperi Kotkaniemi (2018 draft eligible)
Jesse Ylönen ( son of ex NHLer Juha Ylönen and 2018 draft eligible)

Who are Canada's players to follow?

Hahaa! I love the Finnish directness :)

I thought Finland was just too fast for Canada. Seemed to skate circles around them, and they just didn't have the legs to keep up.

So any chance the Winnipeg Jets draft Jett Woo in 2018?

He already comes with his own song

Team struggled at team with Latvia and Slovakia. Also have no idea how to play on big ice with international rules since we probably have twice as many minor penalties as the next team. I don't think the coach has a good idea of how to play against other teams on big ice either.

I've learned to not expect much from Canada at this tournament.

coaching can have an impact either positively or negatively, and that could be the culprit here along with player selection/availability.

I never buy the big ice small ice argument. That's just a copout. The Tournament was played in Grand Forks, ND last year and I believe Canada got thoroughly routed in the Bronze Medal game by the U.S. 10-3. and if memory serves, it was on small ice.

So, it comes down to coaching, player selection and preparation.

and I'll repeat the same post I've made every year for the past 5 years. All Hockey Canada wants to do here is play for a medal. And in most years that will be the Bronze medal game. So, Hockey Canada strives for a 3rd. or 4th place finish and will then deem the tournament a success. Once in a blue moon when all the stars align in their favor (2013 McDavid) the team will overachieve and play in the Gold Medal game. And once in a blue moon the stars won't align and they will lose a 1/4 final game and finish the tournament an in 5th.6th. or 7th.

This year? As I predicted a month ago, Team Canada will most likely win its 1/4 final game tomorrow v Sweden and then play a 1/2 final game which they will most likely lose and surprise surprise they play the bronze medal game.

They should beat Sweden tomorrow, but that isn't guaranteed. I wouldn't be too shocked if they lose tomorrow...which would be one of those once in a blue moon 5th 6th or 7th place finishes.

Haven't watched the Canada-Finland game yet but the power play has been horrendous in the first three games.

The setup has been very questionable, not sure why Comtois is playing at the left point/side of the umbrella when he should be closer to the net using his physicality.

They also need a guy at the point that is a threat to shoot. As good as Smith is, his shot is a weakness right now.

Seen this in the local news... wishing the best of luck to him. :handclap: I don't watch the U18 but is it as exciting as the World Juniors? Might have to watch one game one day.

coaching, weak age group, reliance on too many 00s due to weak age group.

Missing list is huge compared to Finland:
