What should the Seattle NHL franchise be called?

Derivative of Chicago but I don't hate it.

Green/Blue is tough because the Canucks already own it in the NHL. Ideally Canucks move back to Black/Yellow/Orange and Seattle takes Yellow/Green.
No team can "own" a color scheme. Many teams share identical colors.

Pens, Bruins
Hurricanes, Blackhawks, Devils, Sens
Rangers, Habs, Caps
Isles, Oilers
Bolts, Leafs

Seattle owners has decided to respect Vancouver with their colors and also respect Seattle's NBA color back when we had a team as well.

I've been hoping for green/red/white or green/red/silver. It would be an instant buy for me.

I wish I knew how to make jersey concepts because I've been dreaming up ideas for a while.

team name withstanding, this colour scheme would be perfect: Navy teal and grey

They've already said somewhere that they wont wear green and yellow out of respect to the Sonics. The colour scheme has apparently already been decided: red and black.

or Seattle Soundgarden. Great nod to grunge and the greatest of the grunge bands, but yea, won't happen.

I like the Sockeye name and the logo posted a few pages back looks amazing, would instantly become a favorite of mine.

congrats Seattle people, welcome to the NHL, hopefully a name is chosen that you all are happy with.
We can make the jerseys look like flannel shirts... I like it! :)

I would love a shoutout to the grunge scene but like you said it won't happen

Totems is dead in the water. The world is too politically correct nowadays and even kind of nonsensical with cultural appropriation talk. People are going to start talking like Totems is the same as the Indians and Redskins. Book it.

Tap the breaks there a bit.

As I watched the T-birds and Hawks game yesterday I was reminded for the thousandth time how much I like those Thunderbird colors and unis.
T-bird fans won't like it but surrendering their gear to the new NHL team would be amazing, and my favorite option even over what i voted for (Evergreens).
Figure out something new for Kent, and let the Canucks go back to wearing the flying V.

I’m a tbird fan, and I wouldn’t hate it. The birds crest and scheme feels NHL ready tbh

superdeluxe...I've been thinking the same thing. Of the available names, I still like the "Kraken", but if "Thunderbirds" was available, I'd probably give the nod to the 'Birds.

So, here's an idea...Buy the T'Bird name, and make the Juniors, the "Kent Kraken". It'd be a great name for a junior team; they'd have a ton of fun with it;
and they would sell a poop-pile of merchandise $...
Give the NHL Thunderbirds a new look with new colours...maybe something like this Totems concept...

I don't know why, but from that list, only Emerald and Kraken immediately associated with Seattle in my mind. I don't know much anything about Seattle (sports) history though. Obviously they should feel out the locals first, then consider other Muricans and nearby Canucks, and not give jacques scheisse about random euros offering their hot takes. :D

Red and Black? That's no good, those are Portland Buckaroos' colors.

Ownership group is out of touch with the market considering the colour scheme and team names that are being floated. Red and black should absolutely not be used for any major league team in Seattle. These 100% are Portland colours and have already been done to death in the NHL.

The Kraken name is embarrassing. Its the "vote for Rory" All Star game of team names. A bunch of internet geeks that will never see a Seattle game are driving this.

Outside of Dallas, I don't think there are any NHL teams wearing green. What you want is to have someone walking through an airport concourse, see a game on a TV in a bar, and know instantly that the Seattle Totems are playing. I believe that's how you build a brand.

It has frustrated many Kings fans that they have refused to go back to purple uniforms full time. They would be the only team in the NHL wearing that color.

Metropolitans (or Mets or Metros, there are options) is the only reasonable choice. Get to hoist a 1917 Stanley Cup Champions banner on opening night. It's perfect.
100% agree with this comment. Total missed opportunity. Not surprised though because as usual the NHL will opt for some kind of generic corporate branding exercise rather than honor its history. And here's the best part ... Bettman says Metropolitans is not "ideal" because they already have a division with that name. LOL. Amazing. He'd rather keep the name for the division than let the Seattle franchise use it.

Minnesota wears dark green as a primary color, Vancouver uses kelly green as an accent color, and now NJ brought back dark green as an accent color on their throwbacks. But that lends support to what you’re saying and what I’m 100% in agreement with, that green is a very underused color in the league and perfect for Seattle to use to build its own brand recognition.
