You can, it's a deep draft, but you have to also look ahead and our D isn't a young D, Most of them will be 33ish if and when these D prospects are ready. Maybe a year or two more of veteran/rookie pairings after that but we will need a youth influx so I would not be adverse to picking D in the first AND second rounds.It seems like there are always a lot of D fitting that profile available in the second round. Not sure things but close enough where you'd come out ahead picking up a couple of them there and taking a bigger swing with the 1st.
The best forwards are all in the top 12-15 or so and at 20 it's a little more hit and miss. This is why I'd still go for Bonk, and maybe D the next round as well. Mind you if Perreault is still there at 20 I'm taking him. I think he will be good and if he slips due to his size I'd take that chance.
