Tampa has a robust player development system so I can see they dont value picks all that much.

Raddysh - their second highest scoring defensemen was undrafted. They were able to sign Guentzel because they are a top organization. Their core guys are locked up long term. When keeping Stammer and Sergachev was no longer possible,. they replaced one with a better player and traded the other one for a recent top 10 pick.

Cool, I don't really care.

Bjorkstrand was traded as basically a cap dump, and hasn't improved in a way that say Granlund has to rehab his value to that of a top prospect. He's a fine 2nd liner, but those are a dime a dozen every July 1. His significant value comes with retention as I've suggested right along.

You're obviously confused about Bjorkstrand.

He's never had to rehab his value, he's consistently been an excellent player - a guy who scores on any line (which makes him more valuable) and makes any line better. One of the best forecheckers in the league actually. He and Gourde together are going to be territorially dominant as a third line, if Tampa uses them that way.

He was traded from Columbus in the peak of the league's cap crunch, after teams were fully spent, in a panic move to clear salary after the Jackets unexpectedly landed Gaudreau. It was an incredible steal, and many people pointed it out at the time.

While it might be an overpay, I respect Tampa for going for it while their best players are still in their prime.

OK bro… Get the point you’re not willing to hear facts. I guess we’ll just take your opinion over someone like myself wgo actually watch the player in person for the last three years as a season-ticket holder… And knows the details of why the trade went down in the first place when they got him and follows the team insiders who know what he is worth as a player and what they’re looking for to trade.

But good for you
You can just say you don’t have enough knowledge of the players involved to be able to make an informed decision… it’s ok… no one faults you for that…
I think you considering Bjorkstrand as a 50 point player tells me that you are not looking at anything past the points. That and the fact that it is very likely that Seattle will retain 50% and Bjorkstrand will be available for 2 playoff runs.

So... he was traded for a late 1st. Looks like I wasn't so wrong after all.

If he's so great, Columbus would've dumped cap a different way or other teams would've stepped up with a better offer.

Again, he's a good player. But holy hell he was being overvalued here. A late 1st is in line with reality

I like this deal for both teams.

I have so much respect for teams who go all in at the deadline. They're consistently trying to win and I respect the hell out of that, even if it's annoying sometimes (Vegas)
I do too, but sometimes deadline deals like this one are just ... why? Hawks did stuff like this too for a while. Every trade was crap, even if we won.

Sellers market. Lou better not mess this up. Nelson and Palmieri could bring in a haul for the isles
Imagine what Noah Dobson would get in this economy... I'm getting a little giddy thinking about it. But surely they won't move him...

He was traded for 2 1sts and 2nd and a player along with a 4th liner … am I smoking drugs or what are you actually trying to argue here? It seems like you were totally wrong!?
I said right along he had nowhere near the value of a top prospect. The trade is roughly a 1st + 2nd for Gourde (the better player) and a 1st and a warm body for Bjorkstrand.
