If I was in charge in Columbus, I'd do it in a heartbeat. He makes 900K, so there's no risk whatsoever. And even if he is totally cooked, then at least he gets to go out playing for a team he once scored 40 with. And if he actually has some goals left in the tank? Bonus!
No reason not to give the fans a chance at a feel good story.

He'd be a good fit, but I'm not sure what we would pay for a pure rental. Probably not as much as other teams. I mean, if Lou gets caught holding the bag, and takes a mid-round pick just to get something? Maybe?
Wouldn't surprise me to see us poking around him in the summer as a 3rd line guy. But I think we will go contract shopping Friday.

Honestly, the jackass "I'm from Michigan, I don't want Columbus to have anything" kinda wants the Wings to claim him. Also... is Cam Atkinson really a worse option than Joe Veleno, Elmer Soderblom, Tyler Motte, or Christian Fischer?
He's just kind of a warm body, I guess. Not exactly negative impact. Just kind of limp. I've forgotten he's on the team like 3 different times this year.

Armia and Dvorak will be shopped at the deadline.
That is three forwards out of the lineup.
Beck has played good enough since being called up. Thing is Laval is leading their division in the AHL. The potential of a long playoff run would be more beneficial to Beck.
Habs could use a free warm body with NHL experience for an end of season playoff push.

As someone who watched Motte last year in TB, I would much rather play Motte (unless he has fallen off a cliff in Detroit). Also isn't Soderblom ok? Atkinson seems like a great dude but a ghost out there most of the time.
Yeah, I don't remember another player so easily forgotten. ....which is maybe why.
Seems like it's just room to bring up Brown who they just signed. Also If he clears he can be sent down for the AHL playoffs if they add a few more forwards to the NHL and he loses his spot. But I would think they would try to trade him somewhere before sending him to Syracuse.
