TBL at PIT Sun Jan 12 @5pm

Good news is, is that this team has about a 3% chance to make the playoffs last time I looked.

Hopefully by the time the deadline rolls around that number is closer to 0 so our braindead front office doesn’t try to do something extremely dumb.

Can't wait to pick 11th overall in a weak draft with a GM who has been awful at talent evaluation for nearly a decade.

Well, here is to a stepping stone on the way to the bottom. We will be top 5 in 2026/2027. I can almost guarantee that.

If they are truthfully that awful at player evaluation, the only way around that is to have can’t miss players face f***ing them and forced down their throats.

You think?

It'd be cool if we were, but I doubt it.

I feel I am in the minority here, but I would really like to have a front office which didn't need the safety scissors.

Remember last year when we didn't block Poulin for Jeff Carter or the year previously when we didn't block Hallander for Archibald.

This team is constantly focusing on the future after the trade deadline.

If you need to prevent your HC from making dumb decisions by removing problematic faves from the roster, that's bad enough. But having to put guiderails in place for the FO is just a gigantic red flag.

Keep losin' in regulation, fellas. And stay healthy, Petts and Rakell.
Comin in here with silver lining-assed thinking!?!?

Listen everybody knows if the other team gets an odd man rush, a breakaway, or if someone is standing with 18ft of the crease, your goalie simply has to surrender the goal. It's tough luck. I gotta bring those feel good vibes in here.

Honestly, I think 32 fanbases could say that about their coaches. Every team has a "coaches' favorite".

My issue with it is, I don't think Nieto or Acciari is the difference between us winning and loser on a level that makes us bottom 5 or a playoff team.

We lack so much quality at too many positions. The existence of Nieto or Acciari doesn't make Sid and Geno 37/38. It doesn't make Letang and Karlsson late 30s. It doesn't make Jarry and Neds suck ass. It doesn't make Sullivan way past his due date.

The team is on the downswing because their core got old. Happened to the Wings, happened to the Sharks, and it's happening to us. We are at the "just be happy when they win, don't bother feeling bad if they don't" phase.

We’ve got a top 10 goal scoring wing. We’ve got a 1C in the top 20. We’ve got multiple 20 pt D.

What exactly do you expect the rebuild to garner?

If we get another player comparable to Jake and Letang that’s a once in the life time draft for most franchises.

Next year, 2 or even more of Malkin, Crosby, Letang, Karlsson will fall off due to age. Then the secondary group of Rust/Rakell/Bunting is within reach as well.

It's far too late to do a retool. Pens needed top 3 picks the last 2 seasons to do that. Now all that's left is a slow unintentional tank while every players value continues to plummet.

If only you understood how this is the plan while we add players!
