I think we've hit the point where the team no longer necessarily needs Matt Greene. I'd be surprised if we couldn't find a taker for him at some point this offseason.

Everyone is looking for a stay at home vet and for under 3 million? Greene is tradable provided he ever comes back healthy.

Just to provide a record/standings comparison of where the Kings stood on this date exactly one year ago:

On November 26, 2014, the Kings record was 11-6-5, good for 27 points, good enough for the first wild card spot. In those 22 games, the Kings had scored 60 goals and given up 58.

Now onto the present day Kings, who are 13-8-1, which is also the exact same number of points as they had at this point a year ago in the same amount of games played. The Kings up to this point have scored 55 goals and given up 48.

There are a lot of similarities between the two teams: a year ago the Carter line was carrying the offense while the Kopitar line struggled and Dustin Brown worked his way down the lineup. We're seeing a similar pattern this year already.

While the Kings sit in first place today, there is still a lot of hockey left to play and I expect the gap between the Kings and the other Pacific Division teams (save for the Oilers) to tighten as the season plays out.

Saturday night will be a big test for this team, and they'll be well rested against Chicago.

The Kings were off to a great start last year and then Voynov happened.

I still think we are too thin on D. We are an injury away from disaster.

If any of the top 3 guys on defense go down, they definitely are screwed. They need some luck in terms of staying healthy, but at some point Dean has to address the lack of depth on his blueline.

He made an aggressive attempt a year ago to do that with the Sekera trade, but that didn't work out. I don't think he can risk another short term move like that.

This is where acquiring a dman like Hamonic makes a ton of sense. A 25-year old, right handed dman who can log 20+ minutes who can slide on the second pairing with Martinez, thus enabling Muzzin to be reunited with Doughty and McNabb will be better suited playing less minutes paired with McBain.
