Anyone else see Toffoli clearly getting held trying to get the puck on the halfwall in ot? How does the ref not call that when they've called everything on the kings all night.

5 out of 10 points on the trip, can't really ask for more. Would've been nice to get at least a point out of Carolina though. Big home stand coming up. After those 4 games, 11 of the next 13 will be on the road, so a tough month of December.

Pearson got clobbered from behind pretty bad too but the refs had buried their whistles in the locker room by that point.

Fun game, sucks to lose but a lot of good things happening that should be encouraging coming out of that trip. Will type more when not on mobile, heh.

Oh never mind, Chicago is next. Pencil in that L right now!

Really could have won that game. Close one on Kopitar's chance. Good effort, ok road trip; going to be at the Chicago and Vancouver games.

In the 10 or so games i've seen that have gone to OT, I don't think I've seen a penalty called.

Not that he did anything bad tonight, but man is it sad to see Brown struggle to do anything on the ice when he has the puck. He was not noticeable in the least bit. The more he has these quiet games, the more concerning his cap allocation becomes.

Brown had a couple nice chances off rushes that resulted in neither goals nor assists for him. But he was noticeable to a degree, also had a couple nice hits on the forecheck. The cap allocation concern has kind of hit a plateau I'd say.

What a bunch of fargin' ice-holes. Good game, glad to see the old Kopitar back, even if we only got one point.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

Given the impact Lucic has had already, who would you rather have money going towards? The player who is making a contribution.

The diminished role and lack of production from Brown in the present and going forward could really hamper the team. My concern is with the Kings not being able to retain players who are making an impact right now who are playing a bigger role on the roster.

How did you KNOW I wanted to keep Brown and jettison Lucic?

.....

Lucic has been a gamechanger and has basically been a perfect Williams replacement. I'm glad his antics have stayed in Boston.

I'm not talking about your preference, I'm talking about the fact that there is some dead cap space in the form of Dustin Brown that would make it challenging for Dean Lombardi to retain Lucic given the fact that Kopitar will likely be getting a $3M increase in his AAV and Toffoli will soon be getting a significant raise as well.

Some contracts will have to go and Dean will have to get very crafty and creative to fit in new extensions for Kopitar and Lucic and a raise for Toffoli after his bridge contract expires.

Guys like Clifford, Nolan, Andreoff are expendable and hardly make a dent, then you look at that hefty AAV of $5.85M that is going towards a forward with 2 goals in 22 games...

If the Kings want to keep Lucic, something has to give.

1. Kopitar isn't re-signed. I still think highly unlikely, but if he walks this is the easiest way to free up Lucic money. But then you also lose your best forward.

2. Trade Muzzin or Martinez for draft picks like Boston did with Hamilton. The problem is the Kings don't have anyone in the system who is even close to these guys. The Kings would also have to trim some fat such as letting Lewis walk and trading Clifford and replacing those two with guys on smaller contracts, to me that is more doable as there are more forwards in the system capable of stepping in than D.

3. Try and offer Brown and a prospect/1st round pick to someone for basically free. Or retain 50% on Brown and try and move him, but that's still a decent amount of dead cap space to deal with, especially with the already dead money owed to Minus Mike.

4. Basically the same thing with Gaborik.
