GOing by the playoffs and his start of the season, it is very likely that Drouin will be at least on par with the Sedins playing wise. So we trade a 21 year old 1st liner for 2 36 year old first liner, while we already have 5 first liners on the team. There is no real worth in this trade for Tampa as they have more than enough fire power.

If we seriously want to talk about Droun, we instantly talk about Tanev as well

No..... but its nice that you think that, there is this thing called small sample size, might be time for you to look up what it means.

To Tampa

The Sedins (50% retained) (3.5 mil per person)
Alexandre Burrows (UFA after this season)

To Vancouver

Ryan Callahan
Valtteri Filppula
Jonathan Drouin

Why Tampa does this?

They get rid of 10.8 mil for next season cap hit and replace it with 7 mil of 2 guys that are amazing passers, imagine the Sedins with Stamkos. I know losing Drouin would be a hard pill to swallow, but the time is now to win the cup. If you don't do it this year, you'll have the cap to resign everyone and add more depth to the team to win it next year.

Why Vancouver does this?

They start the rebuild and add an amazing player to the team and eat 2 contracts to get the player, only way I can see Tampa doing it Vancouver eats 2 contracts.

Thought?

I guess this would be okay if we were a meddling team without direction, but...

Bolts have better chance to win the cup by keeping their guys. If there is a need it is D-man.

No thanks. Time to unload Sedins was 2 years ago at 50% they would have got a pretty penny for the rebuild.

Yea two good players near the end of the line for a very good 21 year old forward. You wish you could turn your aging stars into Drouin.

The Canucks aren't gonna take on 47 million dollars in bad contracts & retained salary to acquire Jonathan Drouin. They'd also have to re-sign Drouin after the season which would add to the cap hell.

A 21 years old kid only scratching the surface of his impressive potential with a spot locked on Stamkos' wing. Excuse my frankness n what world Yzerman even considers that proposal without laughing ?

All the extra cap savings, which would have been the sole reason to consider this deal, is wasted because free agency was 4 months ago. Plus on top of that, Drouin looks like he'll be a super star.
